Thank you!!!
Some ladies asked me what I was doing to care for myself and I took the opportunity to share my healthy lifestyle. Ladies in 30 - 35 ish and one is terribly out of shape. The other losing her health to soda and poor food choices. Neither exercise nor eat breakfast. Both working full-time mothers.
They asked what I am doing!?!
I shared I eat very little to no processed foods. Lots of veggies, little bit of fruit, adequate fiber and more lean protein then most women - protein in every small meal. And exercise, stressing the importance of lifting OVER cardio (the members here have converted me from my cardio bunny days - my dungeon days have been useful ).
One asked me if she could text me for encouragement. I feel really blessed that I can be inspiration to her. I have no fantasy that I can change her lifestyle but I am willing to advise should she want to do the work.
This year is my 5 year anniversary of being a member. Five years back and 45 pounds heavier NO ONE was asking me for my secrets. NOT ONE, LOL.
This site, many members and VETs have helped and encouraged me. So Thank you! I still am learning. But I do know that NOTHING feels better then fit and healthy feels!!!! NOTHING!!!!

That's awesome! There's no better compliment than someone asking what it is you're doing to look so good.

She said she was going to replace water with all her soft drinks...that's all she is drinking. And no more salt.
I am praying for her. Her diet is killing her.

Girlygymrat, I am really happy about this! U are a very big contributing member on this forum.well at least for me.
U are actually the one that convinced me not to do a dirty bulk and to eat cleaner to gain muscle that I really thought I could never get! U helped me get to goals that I really thought impossible. I'm sure u will do the same with these 2 women. Congratulations!

I love hearing these kind of things, Girly! This is the character of a true leader! You've helped me understand the female aspects of cycling(though I've still got a long ways to go )
Upping her water intake will actually start to help her lose water(as you know) plus dropping the soda is going to be a great difference in itself! High Sodium is a definite danger a bloater(w/more water retention)
Your a great member and I'm/we are all very proud of your consistency dedication and your results - would've never guessed after seeing your 'avi' that you were ever where you started! It just shows we weren't all carved from stone from the get go - a common misunderstanding imho!
Great job and to another 5yrs

Congrats Girly!!
I would love to get my wife hooked of lifting and off of soda for starters. What would a good caffein replacement be? She gets headaches if she doesn't have a coke in the afternoon.

I can relate to this on a personal level. I'm concerned for my wife as she consumes far too many sugary sodas and the like. Her diet is far from ideal, but imho the primary culprit in her, and most people's dietary woes are sodas/high fructose corn syrup. I'm glad you're having a positive influence on this young mother's life. Kudos to you, GGR.

I actually really appreciate this post.
My twin sister had her "cardio bunny" days which ended in her going to inpatient anorexia treatment for a year after it climaxed to a near-death bodyweight of 70-some pounds at 5 foot 6.
A few years later, powerlifting has kinda saved her. I never really encouraged weight lifting, but she found that she really likes it and now maintains a weight of 123 pounds which is pretty much perfect. Totally shifted her goals from endless weight loss and literally saved her life.

An update. The young mother of 2 reports she has lost 5 lbs and upr abs are starting to show thru and her skin is glowing.
She is only drinking water now ( ditched the soda)!
We have been texting food selections. What to eat and recipes.
I am so happy for her. I can tell she feels better about herself!!!

Re workouts. I have always loved working out. The lifting is more new to me. I rather lift them do cardio now....but I was reluctant. I thought I would get big muscles. I thought it wasn't effective as cardio for fat loss. I was wrong.
I am addicted to feeling good. Working out makes me a better person. Less stressed. Solve problems. Meditate and reflect on the day. Endorphin rush. And mostly seeing my body change. Muscles. Leaner. I feel better at heathy weight.

My current stats are 135 at 5'4". I am in a size 2 shirt and slacks. Small tops. I would like to be 125...but I may look better at 130.
I need to work on my back and booty. These areas are weakest IMO.
