    anyone have one these?

I have a Prime account and looking to purchase one.

I have one, unlocked. It's hard to navigate, and on a 25mb/s Internet it buffers a LOT.

If you just buy a regular fire stick, it gives you access to apps. Some are free, but the good ones you have to pay a subscription.

Been using a Roku streaming stick for a almost a year, love it.

I also have prime, and can access amazon's stuff from my Roku.

Mainly use it for Netflix though.

I have the Roku also but the box, not the stick. I've never had it buffer even on dsl. I like the remote with headphones jacks.

We have the Roku box too and it's pretty brilliant. Easy to navigate and you can play media files off it with the usb port. We have Netflix and Prime and they never have to buffer.

Get the Roku. If you like Netflix, the same guys who made their streaming technology are the ones who developed the Roku. In case you want more of an idea of the set-up and stability.

Check out some of the forums for Kodi. They explain how to do it. I spent the $40 and got a stand alone android box quad core 8 gig ram with Kodi pre installed.

I've recently bought a Goobang Doo 16gb android box, deleted all the pre loaded builds and went on nerdandnoobs . Com, setup a free account and downloaded the S****TV build which has absolutely everything on a single page so trying to find things is so easy my kids could run it by the second day.
My box cost 149.99CAD (I needed it for the better Wifi range based on router placement in my house) could have got by with a cheaper one but then wouldn't have been able to watch HD movies.

Is that like plex TV? I was reading on that the other day. Kodi is easy to use once you have set it up.

It's a Kodi build. There are a bunch of prebuilt downloads, they contain all the highest ranked add-ons and whatnot. Before when I clicked on Kodi it opened up and there were 1000s of preloaded addons, a mix of Channels from around the world. Many different languages ect. The Kodi, "S p i n z TV build is one persons idea of the best there is. I'll have to agree it's pretty awesome and has everything you need, leaving allot of the fluff out of it. There are other builds with other names. S p I n z TV contains everything for kids and adults, uses a lot of the popular add-ons like Phoenix, Genisis, Saltz, ect. Once I get more familiar with it I may decide to put my own add-ons on the box but for now thins is super simple and I haven't found anything missing.

You need Internet connection and that's it. No subscription to anything needed. If you want to keep Netflix or Amazon prime it will work on Kodi also. If I didn't have prime because of all the purchases I do I wouldn't bother.

Its free to download and try. How easy can you get? Just try it. I don't miss cable and especially the bill one bit.

Anything you have Internet connection and storage. If you can download anything else on a smart TV you can Kodi. Put it on a thumb drive or SD card

I have a Chromecast which is similar. I have Netflix, Hulu, HBO Go accounts. Anything you watch in a Google Chrome browser (from your laptop, tablet, or phone), you can cast to your TV. It basically makes your TV your monitor. There is also a related app where I can cast from my phone to any computer in my house.

The Chromecast is a USB stick. I have it plugged into a dedicated channel of my receiver. $35 for the stick. It's alright, but I'll probably end up going with a dedicated device like Roku.

Actually firesticks are no easy for jailbreak. But if you follow the recommendations from this unbiased resource https://www.firesticktricks.com/jail...ire-stick.html , you will definitely cope with the task easily. After jailbreaking you can arrange your movies, TV shows and photos; you can install clever addons; and you can record live television. By the way, a guy I work with says he bought a jail broken Amazon fire stick from eBay. So this is another smart way out

So you can get a ROKU or Firestick and download an app and get regular channels along with the other?

Bought a 43" Toshiba fire TV edition for $199 on Amazon.

It's a smart TV with fire stick built in.

    32" was $119

Are you able to watch regular TV without a cable or satellite subscription with what you have? I'm not smart on how all this stuff works but I sure would like to cancel my freakin high dish network bill.

BTW Helluva deal on that TV.

Not without having a service such as cable or direct TV.

But I don't care for cable anyway

Actually you can watch most local TV now without cable service. There are TONs of apps out there to show your local channels and even most you would normally pay for.

I have since this thread started gotten a Firestick also, It's pretty good but I like the Roku better for watching my prime. The Firestick has more apps available and I also was able to put my Kodi on it and it runs better than the little android box I had before.

It look a little work but I got my Kodi installed on my firestick. Youtube is a big help.
I would just google to see what the apps are, there are 100s if not 1000s available
