Off topic and might be the wrong board to ask

This might be off topic and really the wrong internet group to discuss this with but any tips for someone looking at rebuilding their life and maybe doing something different in life at a later age?

I have a career and a great job, but really no more drive in life or passion in anything since I kind of have everything right now but than again you kind of have nothing since all you truly have is money and nobody or anything else. If this is too much to ask here, that's fine by me. Some things just been bothering me lately and they are on my mind

Sorry for posting this around here, I would delete the thread if I could..

I'll have to figure out some new goals or hobbies to keep me active. I'm a workaholic in my field and spend a lot of time working with not much interests in other things.

Mods. plz delete if you get a chance

what is your field of work?
I'm in IT and that's as specific as I could probably get, I usually travel for work between remote companies and end up in a new state every couple of months. I've had trouble making friends since I moved to a new state a few years ago and all I ever do anymore is work. I'm actually in Ohio again next month, so that's cool. Also it sucks trying to work out your injection times when you do travel.

what besides porn are you interested in?
I'm actually not really into porn, with the gear I've been running my dick doesn't work that well anymore. Also, I am waiting for an order of cialis/viag to come through so maybe that would help get the ol dick working again.

Say it again, I didn't mean to discuss this shit on here just figured I would make a thread
I'm one of the worst cases of loner most people probably have seen, I'm rich and alone

I actually had the same thing going on in my life awhile back. I also posted on here about it, nothing wrong with discussing it.

I didn't have the problem of being alone more of my problem was being addicted to the stress as dumb as it may sound. When you live a life of working long hours and lots of stress it becomes a part of your life. When I started eliminating some of my stress and working less hours is when I actually started becoming bored and not satisfied with what I had in my life.

I have had my eyes opened in the last year by several things. I had a good friend commit suicide, and one die of natural causes, another friends 10 year child was diagnosed with a disease that will affect him for the rest of his life.

I wont mention names but I had a member on this site that messaged me with his experience in life and having the same type of problems. The advice he gave me from his experiences and mistakes made me open my eyes and realize what I had in life and what it was really about. His advice probably kept me from making mistakes that would have cost me my marriage and who knows what else.

I also have a 9 month old granddaughter that has made me realize that life is not all about work and money.

Life is short enjoy it while you can.

Same with me, I just completely did a 180 with my career. I'm on to a new venture. Basically 100% starting my life over. New State, new career, new girl. Only thing I'm taking with me is my dog and a few rifles. Life is to short to be unhappy.

no need to delete the thread or be ashamed, after all you were a very ambitious person who has created a lot of stuff we need, without hard workers there wouldnt be any good things.

apart from the perspective from the above poster diesel101, you could also try travelling to a new culture. my personal issue with life here is how everything you are supposed to go out to enjoy is so "consumer"-ish, if you get what I mean. The more expensive the more you enjoy it, apparently. And then you have overcommercialization and corporatism and everything is basically factory made crap full of preservatives and trans fats to make it last forever.

I enjoy south east asia and mediterranean europe - Thailand and Greece specifically. There is a much more lax culture there and the fact that most are much more poor (especially if you go to smaller villages with lots of nature) makes them less prone to consumerism habits. At least if you have lots of money you can travel and/or plan to retire early and just enjoy being alive. I like eating and banging hot chicks, and sleeping. Very basic stuff our brains are 100% wired to desire. Maybe you could try exploring what you like - not starbucks crap mixtures of three types of liquids of shit, but rather something that comes from at least centuries old culture. Breads, cheeses, fish, herbs. Like some chevre with fig jam on a fresh and warm baguette with a sourdough mixture in it. Or some norwegian salmon sushi. Or a really nice tight body super tight skin Thai sweetheart that makes any dysfunctional dick just work again.

I work hard but the plan is not to do it indefinitely. I want a payback of that effort given back to me in the form of goods and services I desire. Though theres barely anything I enjoy in our rich western countries. Maybe you should try a new environment where YOU receive a treatment.

I have looked into a possible vacation

Turns out that isn't an option on my table since my company said no and I need a few more months of "slavery" in the office before I can consider a vacation. Either way I have some new things going on which are probably bringing this out of me but either way it isn't that big of a deal and I'll figure something out

I have even thought about stepping down from my role and getting into a role actually below me and pays less but to help me figure things out but than again this probably won't solve my issues.

Maybe you don't see tech as a hobby anymore and just as a job, so you aren't essentially practicing in your free time. Stuff like changing your diet, or sleep schedule (as in how much sleep you are getting a night) can also have an impact on how you think.
Maybe you just need to reset yourself by doing something crazy like going on a mini adventure in a place you don't know.

I purchased bitcoin for $100 in September and started trading other crypto currencies as well. I know you are well off but trading for me isn't always about money its about making smart decisions and intelligent analysis. There's also a good community of people involved much like bodybuilding. I could point you in the right direction if you're interested.

I too have found myself alone recently after being married for 14yrs. Im also in the later stages of my life. I have my kids but beyond that i don't have much of a life outside of lifting and trading. I just started lifting again after a long time of not.

I travel as a union pipe fitter so it's a new town every time I turn around and I work 7 days a week living in motel rooms with no real way of having hobbies or relationships. All I have to show for my life is the money and my identity is my career. If that's what your describing in your life thin I'm sorry because it's an empty place. You can find new life in training and This forum. I did! This forum is like a big support group, there are amazing people here. Just keep your head up

Why don't you go and make 100 "care kits" for needy kids. Get small backpacks and put some toothpaste with brush, deodorant, kids shampoo and some toys. Take them to a church or women's shelter and donate them.

The best way to feel better about yourself is to help others. You may have money but you don't sound "rich" so get out there and help some others with that money and I'll bet when all is said and done you'll feel richer than ever!

I agree with you on that completely. When I'm at home my church has a rehab that I'm very active in. Where I'm working at now I go to work Sunday morning in the soup kitchen, on the rare occasions I do get Sunday off

I have always liked that idea, but I'm not some housewife with that kind of time on my hands. I actually end up donating a lot of times through some charity websites, I guess it doesn't really make me feel "better" about myself but money has just become paper for me and I usually donate it anyway to someone who needs it a lot more than me. I asked a similar question on a few other boards, interesting enough they mentioned to go for a walk, go workout before work or after work and see how that clears up the mind.

As far as helping other people, I already do that as well. I have two cell phones for work, and I'm always "on the call"
