YOU GUYS KNOW more about cars then I do. I am thinking just buying it for under 5k and leaving it in the garage just in case that happens. Can anyone advise me on that?

I guess the idea about an EMP disabling a car would have to be about it frying electronics and such. So basically anything with sensors and computers would be zapped. So that takes out all vehicles with a PCM, ECM or TCM. So my go to would probably be a mid 70-80s C10 chevy, Wrangler or Cherokee. Since I know how to work on those bad boys.

Bonus points for the fact that you can salvage lawn mower engines for spare parts.

Better have a really big garage for the humvee..Iam thinking gas will be difficult to keep getting considering pumps are electronic and most people will hoard what they have and can get..maybe something with a smaller engine a keep, etc.

I was thinking the same and have to have extra diesel available as a carry on. And yeah I had these huge garages in terms of their height I am pretty sure it will fit. But just to be safe I will take the measurements it shows how big and wide it is.

Older Harley Davidson bikes are well sought after as well. And can be had cheap. All terrain tires of course.

I have a big family. Won't fit on the bike but thank you. When you say older you are talking before 1988?

The particular vehicle I am talking about has to be pre 88. Look at the first link where it post the top 10 vehicles.

Well you can throw that site's suggestions in the trash. I'm not a prepper, but I can tell you that most of the site's suggestions still have electronic ignition. To be EMP safe the motor must have mechanical points type ignition.

On the otherhand: the site does kind of allude to what was going to be my first suggestion. Just turn your garage into a faraday cage. They are simple to construct and would be cheaper than searching and buying another vehicle.

Any wire mesh box is a faraday cage. Hell, your microwave in your kitchen is a faraday cage, that's what keeps it from cooking you with microwaves while you stare through the door at your food being cooked.

I believe any steel type building will prevent damage from an EMP. From what research I have done I believe most vehicles and other forms of electronics will not be damaged unless they are running while it hits.
Am I the only one that stores their extra vehicles, atvs, boat and Motorcycles in a steel shop?

You need a farm so you can be to some degree self sufficient in the middle of nowhere. Petrol/diesel will be hard to come buy so you need to make provisions for these. You need to have a plan and means to be able to get from your home to your hideaway place. You need plenty of weapons, survival gear, and long lasting food, batteries basically anything that you can horde and store.

You need to travel light so have everything you need stored at your hideout. But above all else you need the will to win and the will to survive. If you have to pull a 45 on your best friend/neighbour you have to do it. Because in survival mode people will turn on you.

And above all else start buying gold and especially silver.
