    2017 Mr. Olympia

Shocker on the first day, Chris Bumstead has been dethroned. He was suppose to be the next challenge to Flex Lewis at 2012 next year if he took Classic again.

Flex wheeler looked good but his legs were nowhere near the top guys. He placed 15th.

There were a ton of surprises, I really thought Ramy had a chance on Phil. Side by side it looked like Ramy had him on some things.

Bumstead getting beat was a shocker to me. The guy was complete and symmetric. No surprise at 212, flex lewis is just a cut above at that weight class.

Flex wheeler looked damn good upper body wise, his legs just didn't come in. Probdbly needed another year of heavy training to compete. They just weren't there. Had he been in physique I think he could have placed top 5.

It just shows that Phil is still the standard. As a champ he comes in the best conditioning every time. Phil and Ramy are the only ones I see consistently progressing. I was shocked by Roelly/Williams, they were way off imo and Asha is just awesome.

Idk - Ramy looked as just as good especially in the abdominal department and legs especially that outer sweep geezus! But Phil is always on point as you stated but Bonac looked great too I haven't seen a pic of Ramy's back tho?!

Phil's stomach was blown out. Ramy had good midsection control during and between poses. I honestly though he looked better all around. Like BG said Roelly was not up to par. I think bonac would do great at 212, he was just to small compared to Phil and Ramy. However I know he placed very well, I don't think he could win in open. But could probdbly beat flex.

I think Bonac would kill it at 212... but what was his weigh in weight for the Olympia?

I agree I thought Ramy looked better in most poses but they were definitely close... it was his best conditioning Olympia by far and he also looked great at the European Olympia where Dexter actually beat him but he dwarfed Dex in every post and was just as conditioned(he came in lighter but looked great) he's the only one who can dethrone Phil imho?!

The "experts," since Bumstead is so young I guess. Flex doesn't really have
Much to worry about for a year or two imo.

Well damn, who knew. I had to look the guy up as I haven't really been following classic but still think he's years away from coming anywhere near Flex.

Only Father Time will beat flex. It's a matter of who is second best at that time.

That back shot is simply incredible. I'd like to see him skip the 212 and do the actual Olympia.

Phil won and so he should of, he is Mr O and for someone to knock him off and take his title they going to have to bring 100% of their game. Phil was off but no other person was 100% I really think Ramy was close, yes I really do if he worked with Chris A again this yes year he would of been a lbs lighter and I think he could of been 100% to take phil. But anyone to take Phil needs to be 100% on their game no one was Ramy was the closest.

Agree there. Because Mr O is the complete package. Phills mid section may have been off but overall he is still the champ. his back, his delts , his legs, his bis look amazing. Full bellies. His pecs looked a little small to me cause his delts are so huge. I wonder if this will be his last year. Ramy is getting better conditioning every year so maybe he will dethrone phill next year?

I've got some friends (seriously I do) that go to the show every year. I was texting with them during finals and they all said there's no doubt it's Heath. Seems in person it was quite clear.

It's so hard to see what the judges see imo. They are really trained to notice the subtle differences. It would be nice to know what they look for. So the casual guy at home could keep score.

I have been looking through a lot of photos of the Olympia. I think what lost Ramy the Mr. O was his mid to lower lats being underdeveloped (relatively speaking) when compared to Phil. You can see it good in this video complication

Is the Olympia televised anywhere these days? I haven't followed much this year, but I usually have to catch a live stream online.

That's how Phil started - his back was his weak point.... I think he has good lay insertion but can come out lower as you stated - only Ramy has the ability if Bonac goes to 212 he'd crush it his back shot is like Phils just a shorter version like all his poses imho

Aceto will get him conditioned better than anyone and a tad lighter than he should come on stage at imo, as well
