In his previous podcast with fouad someone asked “what is your first thought of the day” and he couldn’t answer it all he said was something morbid.
    RIP Luke.

Very sad. He seemed full of personality from what I had seen from his bodybuilding bollocks with Fouad and a “cribs” style thing with him.

As Kel said you never know the demons someone may be struggling with.

Exactly, we just keep it bottled up until we can no longer cope.

Seems that way, along with - when we get real bad, is when we lock up. We refuse other peoples advice at all costs, including exclusion of people around & just not saying anything about anything that matters at all

Saddest thing I have seen in life is when we do it ourselves - OD's r next up

Think about the mental pain a person must be in to decide suicide is their best option. That's what I think when people say how selfish it is. It might be but still..

I'm sure it will somehow be blamed on Steroids by the trolls .

but Luke has gone on record saying he had some anger and mental struggles when young before ever becoming a bodybuilder

There are a lot of facets to it

After having one of my truly closest friends having done so - I feel quite differently about it. . . It could be a momentary psychotic spell, driven by various factors - With having this in my life so close, I really see quite a few things differently now. . . . "We" need to pay attention to ourselves constantly - He used his own weapon that he carried with a CW permit < NO ONE can protect us from ourselves

Along with - Substance use/abuse is almost involved in every case

I would bet that he'd win the lottery before doing this, just months before it happened

    RIP Luke.

I watched one of the last podcasts with him and he was so interactive, so alive. It's crazy how his depression was lingering, but on the outside he was a charismatic, friendly, & happy guy.

He talked about having ADD, and I believe he had some sort of rapid cycling depression. He must have been in a real tough situation, especially with not being able to train. One of the saddest things is not being able to help someone who struggles mentally/emotionally. No matter what you say or how much you tell them you love them, they feel empty.

Just came across this....GH you referenced him in a thread just 3 days before he passed. Thought it was kind of eerie.

Luke is one of the few bodybuilders I followed to a T.. watched everything he put out, every podcast. paid attention to his drug cycles (thats how I know he only ran 20mg Var in contest prep), his training split and training philosophy , how he used working sets followed by back off sets ,etc..
reason so is that I thought within the next 5 years he would end up being the next Mr Olympia . I wanted to follow the journey in real time

I didn't personally know LUKE but he seemed like a really good guy. Sad loss for the bodybuilding community, we lost a good one.

Competing can be tough. You train for six months to a year and you have too much water, the competition is approaching, now you look fat, you are not dialed in. What you did last time isn’t working. WTF is going on, I’m running out of time and look like shit. I am fucking drained but need to keep up on my cardio: every waking minute is prep time. I gotta look better.

Mind games go along with competing.

Most kill themselves for a reason. Love, economics, terminal illness, failure socially as a person.
And dont think drugs did it. He got all the help around him to overcome hormonel issues.
Good looking guy with family and great potential.
    Very strange.
But some guys who have no problemes also kill themselves. They dont see why bother?. Ull be dead in 5, 15, 30, 50 years anyway. So living is totally pointless in these minds. I knew a few of those.

In this video Foaud asks Luke what his first thoughts are upon waking. Podcast was light-hearted but you can see the change in Luke’s face as he’s pondering. Guys, I think we overestimate our ability to recognize a call for help. Watch that part of the video and see what it can look like. Luke deflects with humor, doesn’t want to give the real answer, and hints at what he’s going through and how he might try AD’s.

I’ve dealt with depression for a long time and can relate to some of the things he says he feels. That clip at the end is a good watch to maybe help you see some of the signs in someone you know. It’s rarely in-your-face obvious and extroverted people are the ones that conceal it most easily.
