I'd add a couple more zeros to that number in regards to "we" as humanity and not you as an individual person.

everyone always talking about an apocalyptic "end" that I would bet and guarantee is never going to come.. no your not going to experience a rapture and fly off to heaven magically (I can explain what rapture is if you need me to),, no end of the world apocolype is going to happen, and yeah no zombies either .. the only really "END" is within ourselves and losing our path and purpose and hope and faith in life . you end yourselves. .
people who use the Bible to promote some end of the world bullshit have never really studied the Bible then . just using it as a prop for their propaganda.

Not even just in that respect, but period. Bear in mind, if it weren’t for the news and social media scaring the shit out of people, 98% of this country would still have absolutely no clue about Covid, any of the current unrest, etc.
Just like when the Great Depression and Great Recession occured: most people either didn’t even know, or wouldn’t if you hadn’t told them. All of these “calamitous events” are barely blips on the general population’s radar. It literally takes something like a Nazi Germany or Soviet Russia steamrolling a population for better than even a quarter to be affected by political/economic events directly.

Here's a pretty good site you can practice with in your down time:

    https://www.animatedknots.com/basic-knots

Knowing how to tie knots used to be a basic thing men learned how to do and now it's been reduced to being a hobby and a thing Boy Scouts do to get merit badges, but it's going to be important to know again.

    No we arent.
I thought like you when I was 12 literally. I was so ready for society to collapse and had a list of everything I needed and prepped all I could. I was 12. That I realized people have been saying this shit all of my life and all of the live before me. Yes we are in a down market right now because everyone said on their ass but times are simply better than they have ever been in terms of crime or anything else. Your panic because you see social media and the shit on the news and it scares you because you are that gullible it's been going on forever as long as I can remember hearing and for a long time before that

If you can't make it in today Society you must not want to

What you people don't get is people are too soft to ever let everything collapse. They would kiss anyone's feet they had to to put food in their belly and keep the lights on they don't give a fuk about freedom or anything else really. Jesus Christ didn't you see the way they jumped in the government's lap as soon as covid-19 came down? Yeah these people are going to bring about the collapse of society by what? Bitching? Look at the bigger picture other than what you want to happen

I’m more disturbed by the implication that so many have a hard on to “baby with the bathwater” the entirety of modern civilization. Now that I think about it though, shitloads of bluster. No one talking on the internet whilst living in modern society actually wants that shit.
I can confidently say that, as there are still VAST swaths of land, especially somewhere like Nevada, where someone could easily disappear to, and have nothing to do with modern society ever again. The ones who actually want that life already have it, and it’s always available to all.

I prep not for some supposed end of the wolrd "biblical apocalypse" (sure I'm christian but I don't believe the book of revelation is a reference to a world wide apocalypse).. I prep for local level catastrophe. when I lived on the continental divide at 9,400 feet , we once got hit with a storm that dropped 9 feet of snow. yes 9 feet. you could not even open up the front door cause the snow was higher then the door. I was stuck trapped and locked in the house for 3 weeks. I'm glad I had food and supplies stocked up.
last year got hit with an ice storm and blizzard that knocked out power for a couple days.. our home dropped below freezing with no heat or electricity. I'm glad I had gear and supplies.

besides the crazy storms we get here.

^ thats near my old house .. I was all packed up for evacuation when the smoke started coming our way.

shits just happens so its good to be prepared..
I also live next to some very important military bases. if the US was ever invaded or bombed this area is a highly possible target,, so I'm prepped up and want to be able to provide without relying on electricity. now thats not likely going to happen but I'm prepped up for some catastrophes just in case.

being a prepper does not mean your necessarily and "end times" dooms day apocalyptic end of the world type .. you just prepare for some things that could happen.
I cold weather prep cause of the storms we get here. if you live in FL you may prep with plywood and other things in case of hurricanes. if you live in the inner city you may prep with plywood as well to board up and protect you from looters.
prepping is localized for the most part based on the minor catastrophes that may happen in your area.

I wouldn’t even classify what you’re talking about as “prepping” in the most commonly intended usage. That’s just you accounting for the constant “shit happens” that occurs where you live.
This isn’t you stocking up a bunch of shit in the expectation or hope of having to one day play at “Bear Grylls” in a post-western world of fallen civilization.

Lol, our little throw back neighborhood was built in the 50’s. We still have a few homes with bomb shelters.

We’re thinking solar panels with those storage batteries and then have a couple of essentials like the fridge on a dedicated circuit.

Trying to think how long we were without water and electricity the last big quake.

Being prepared for small disturbances is great. I prep for the apocalypse like: I have a box of bullets and a rifle good 4 headshots at 1200 yards. I have the addresses 10 people who have Doomsday prepped for Year's.

Eventually they will poke their head out of their hole and I will get all their shit

The kind of collapse people talk about and supposedly prep.for is asinine. They stock up on shit and think I've got all this shit and all these guns at all these bullets all this food and everything I need. Let's see how they fare when 10 to 100 people come to take their shit with guns. Hell I know guys that live in the suburbs that doomsday prep as if that won't be one of the first places they will get their clocks cleaned

If you want to move to somewhere like Alaska or remote Canada or the desert you will probably do okay if you really know what you are doing.

As for me I've got a lot more Fire Inside Me and desire to create something great rather than just scrape by surviving each day, with the only purpose being to survive until the next day, to live a pointless existence of Simply Staying Alive.

If everything falls apart, if everything collapses... Hell if there is a nuclear war I hope that first missile land right on my house.

Too many people have watched too many movies. They have no concept of the world of shit they are talking about.

I guess actually growing up in and around extreme poverty give me a much more real concept of what that kind of life is like.

I get memories of my mother scraping together enough change to take me 15 miles to town and share an ice cream cone with me at the drive in. That was good times.

I am thankful my kids don't know how it can be. I am fortunate.

Now you guys are talking about a world of shit 100x worse.
You are going to survive it and... What?

Get a special reward for clinging to life like a bacteria?

It's mildly ironic that we are on a form of guys that are extremely vain in how they look and yet they think they would be just fine with bare minimal necessities and having to work their ass off simply to stay alive and see terrible shit.

In a collapse you won't be hopping into your air condition vehicle, drinking that pre-workout, on the way to the gym, after shooting a bunch of juice, and pounding out a workout then posting pumped pics here.

Your vanity will be the first thing out the window. Survivors don't look like Jay Cutler, Ronnie Coleman, or any big muscular strong dude. Survivors look like scrawny beat to shit cold hard soulless dead inside people that don't give a shit if they live or die. It's not cool or impressive.

It's just a shit life of hell and hurt. I know the mindset that some have because I used to have it when I was a kid because I thought it was cool and tough to be a survivor. Then I grew up.

thats what a real alpha male does.

read the story of Joseph in the Bible. . robbing and stealing is for weak men. real men prepare and are ready to help others, not shoot or steal from others

Here's another clue for all of you fucking morons out there calling yourselves alpha males... If you are an alpha male you will never say the words that you are because there will be no need to. Matter of fact I think you have said that yourself gh.

I think you are a scrawny pussy and need to move along.

Getting the air out is important, but you also have to remember that the bacteria in there has to be killed. Pressure canning creates a vacuum seal and heats the food up to temperatures hot enough and long enough to kill them. Especially botulism.

Most definitely canned or freeze dried is the way for long term storage.
For shorter term, sodium or potassium nitrate will keep botulism and others at bay; but again, thats shorter term story.

Freeze dried is the best method, but most of us can't afford the equipment to do it. So we overpay Wise Company to do it for us.

I use sodium nitrate in making beef jerky, but with nitrates you really have to be careful in using too much. I know they're found in most vegetables, but they're found in small quantities. And I'm not sure if over time, consuming it in levels for food preservation is all that healthy. The government says it wasn't carcinogenic in rats.

It’s not just in small amounts. Kale, lettuce, spinach, cabbage, chard, etc. contain about 3-4x the nitrates on a mg/kg basis of even the most rich of processed meats.

I do try to minimize it because the food companies cram it into everything....almost on the scale of monosodium glutamate, which , for some reason, my raggedy-ass body doesn't tolerate very well.

We have several wells, so we're good on water.

Most of the time for regular "snacking" amounts of beef jerky, we don't use any sodium nitrite. On the other hand, we don't make it often unless we can catch a deal on flank steak, top sirloin roast, etc. or have some fresh deer.
I have to watch it though, once I get to snacking on good jerky, I tend to eat more than I need to.
There are 3 loves in my life: my wife, my English mastiffs, and my weightlifting....Man, my wife gets really pissed when I get the 3 confused...

Not super into it but we have enough set aside to get by for a while... We have go bags and get home bags too. Make sure to always have some gas in the tank. It's just good practice.

However, I believe knowledge is the lightest burden and it takes up no space in the closet. I have done lots of firearms courses and studied emergency medicine at the local college in my free time to the level of EMT.

Within the last six years here we've gotten a serious earthquake, wildfires, blackouts, and a covid lockdown... and we've seen looting and riots in nearby cities. If you don't have at least some preps and give some thought to this stuff then you're a complete idiot.

If I were to prepare for collapse I would move to Jasper arkansas area. Plenty of places to hide and its small sky country.

People think montana etc and big mountain ranges but these are small dense "hollers".
Caves everywhere and miles of limestone that is the best known thing to stop radiation. The springs are everywhere and the buffalo river mouth starts there. Some of the last spring water you can drink and not get sick. It is the least able to be contaminated water supply available to the surface of the earth because it all seeps from miles deep limestone which purifies it. From just about any spot at the right elevation you can tap it with minimal effort.

There are many places there you see the sun rise at 10 and set at 3 pm.

Power grid is minimal there. Law enforcement is minimal. Government is minimal. It is isolated and treacherous terrain.
Fish, lakes, wildlife, and the best part is its not near any population center that isn't 100% gun toting people. The locals have had to claw a living from nothing all their lives and it shows.

On just about any hillside a few snipers could take out a regiment of low travelers. Road access is visible from a perch at all locations.

Simply put the entire area is a killing field to those that grew up on that kind of ground.

The roads are the enemy and the only way the enemy can get in. Places like "low gap" are a death trap for an army with a local platoon.

My second pick would be the iron grid around eminence MO.

Wide open spaces are the enemy in survival situations.
Both places are shitholes to any man who wishes to make a decent life for himself doing anything more than surviving.
