How do You Make Your Burgers?

How many of you guys ever try mixing parmesan cheese with the ground beef patties? My girl decided to do this tonight along with seasoning the patties with the McCormick Garlic and Herb seasoning, putting Swiss cheese on top and toasting the buns. She also greased the pan with cooking lard and glazed the buns with the juice from the patties cooking.

    It came out fvuking awesome.

Anyways, so how do you guys like your burgers made?

I try to get a blend of chuck and round, then add some seasoning. Two of my faves are Allegro and Mccormick Steak Seasoning. Either works on its own

Get the grill nice and hot, oil it with some GSO or similar, then drop the patties on. You should hear the sizzle. Turn the heat down, then flip when the burgers no longer stick to the grill.

To add, evidently, The Wife found some ground wagyu beef at Costco. Making burgers with it tonight, will report back.

Because I like my steak and burgers so veryrare, grilling my burgers without them falling apart has been tough & I’ve given up. We recently bought a grill pan so I might give that a try.

I cut off pieces of 4" 316L stainless steel thick wall pipe and faced it of to about 1.5" thick. I use it to press the burgers into shape, and I'll cook one or two inside the rings on a grill.
Like you I prefer a rare hamburger, but steaks closer to medium rare.

I think I understand where you’re coming from and like that idea.

I recently was told that I like my steak “black & blue” & had never heard that before. Turns out, right on the money - blue referring to cool & barely cooked in the middle. Merry Christmas AG to you & Mrs. AG.

I've never been to 5 Guys before. What would you say they compare to? Usually, if I'm going to go get fast food burgers, I'd just go to In-N-Out.

Lately, I've gotten to the point where I'm tired of fast food and even going to sit-down restaurants. There's nothing like home-cooked food.

5 Guys is good, but the prices are high as camel p*ssy, IMHO.

Their fries are great and they don't skimp on the quantity either. The thing about the fries I don't like is they're so damn good straight out of the fryer, but I always have some left over. I've not yet figured out a good way to make them taste freshly fried later on.

I've never been to an In and Out burger that I can recall, so I can't rate them vs. 5 Guys.

Yeah those Mexican ladies know their way around a kitchen. I eat a lot of ceviche and homemade salsas.

It was made by some chefs, but I paid attention to the video not because of the recipe or title, but because of how the video was shot. The whole video was made with animation. It was short and concise and very beautiful. I couldn't even resist quote an animated video, because it was the first time I had seen such a creative approach.
I just can’t reproduce a burger better than what I can easily get at a few places. I love me some In & Out, but my new favorite is Shake Shack & as luck would have it, opened right next to my current gym.

One is when I’m not worrying about carbs, the other is. Same cheeseburger on both pics.

Per advice above, I just ordered some stainless steel hamburger rings so that I can an attempt at keeping a super - rare burger from not falling apart on the grill.

It’s honestly amazing the things I’ve learned on this forum other than AAS.

I'm not a fan of eating bread so I don't eat burgers. I find it a waste of calories as it lacks nutrients.

Man, I have gotten to be just the opposite. I can't find a burger out that I like as much as what I can make on the grill at home. It is kind of frustrating too, because when I DO get one out, I'm like "damn, I just paid $15+ for this??"

And yeah, I saw AGs post about the stainless rings. I'm like dammit, where can I get them and how much do they cost? <-- like that matters, I'm going to order them.

LOL, I had no idea they were available online. We had a slack day at a shop where I used to work. One of the guys was making a "bacon flattener" out of a chunk of 304SS, so I saw a piece of 4" 316L pipe that needed to be put to use, so... hamburger rings.

    15$? They ain’t that expensive where I go, unless it’s at a fancy-schmantzy place.

Bless Amazon, they arrived last night. It’s my wife’s kitchen, but she’s encouraging me to get involved. When it comes to cooking she is fearless & patient, and can spend an entire day prepping a meal. I’m the opposite & a sloth when it comes to cooking, but I’m going to give these a whirl. The patty size is big.

Toasting the hamburger buns really caps off a good hamburger for me as well. When I get what would be a decent burger but the bun is soggy, I trash the bun.

Appreciate it, and thanks for the idea of the stainless rings for burgers. I’ve seen them used for other meal or food prep, but just hadn’t run across this.

BTW, we bought a large smoker box that contains both the meat and the wood and still fits on the closed grill. That smoked brisket from a previous thread kinda got me - a carnivore to the day I die for sure!

To Cy (or others); my buddy Bret (RIP) highly recommended these burgers before his unfortunate demise. What?

    What language is this?
    LOL, machinist lingo, Kel.

"Bacon flattener" is a generic term for a piece of 304 series stainless steel for the guys that are very particular about their bacon.
There are 3 loves in my life: my wife, my English mastiffs, and my weightlifting....Man, my wife gets really pissed when I get the 3 confused...

Why not both? The cheese kind of holds the whole thing together.

I recently went to a Jolibee just to see what everybody was raving about, so I've got to ask. Does your wife make spaghetti with pieces of hotdog instead of sausage and ketchup instead of sauce?

I like my burgers wide. Well done always. Piece of American cheese melted with crispy bacon on top. Add lettuce and pickles. Add spicy mayo, ketchup and mustard. Then sprinkle crispy fried onion strips on top. With a side of seasoned steakhouse French fries and a nice bowl of coleslaw. Diet Coke or Pepsi, I’m not picky. That’s heaven.

Carl’s Jr. had this burger I loved. It was with blue cheese, fried onion strips, and bacon. I can’t remember what it was called. I went in one day and saw those Mexicans making it barehanded, no gloves… kinda threw me off for a minute. Then I said f it and got the burger anyway, it was that good.

Sadly yes. LOL Im not a fan of Jolibee but yes Filipino seem to love the place. IMO KFC is much better and then Popeyes. Jolibee would be a 3rd. I can taste the flour in the breading.
I still like going to Jolibee because of the atmosphere, all Asians. lol
We are lucky so to speak because there are not very many Jolibee in the US compared to Asia. There are more Jolibee than McDonald's there but we have one that is part of our nearest big mall so the wife gets to go when she has a craving that thankfully isnt very often anymore. They also have a Seafood city that is a big asian seafood and grocery market.
