Coins carry the same value regardless what country you are in. An American quarter has the same value here as it does there...and vice versa. They also don't give out FX on coins.

Sorry bro...I thought you meant coin coin...not dollar coin. Haha!
You can't get FX on a pocket full of small denomination coins. The banks (or anyone else) won't do it. If they did in theory then I could collect US coins in circulation here in Canada and then redeem them at a higher rate than what was invested. That's why banks won't payout FX on change.

For sure you can get FX on that. I'm sure if you went to any local currency place they could exchange it for you. As of today's rate you can get $1.46 back.

You won't be able to exchange any $CDN coins, including one and two dollar coins. Only paper legal tender. And MBH, I don't think a lot of American places will take Canadian quarters, dimes, etc. (for sure their vending machines won't, the Canadian coins are lighter). You can use US change pretty much anywhere here, and in Vancouver, almost any retail shop will take US dollars, granted the exchange rate is probably shit compared to the banks.

I find that when I travel to Cali, no-body will take my small Canadian change ie: nickle, dime, ect. I was buying gas, and they wouldn't take my penny. LOL! They wouldn't take a stupid penny!
Oh well. Mental note, next time don't bring Canadian money to the US.

Yeah yeah...Canadian money IS real. Keep in mind, way back in 1979 our CANADIAN dollar was worth MORE than your unilateral, patriotic AMERICAN dollar...
Haha...
