And a chat room forum(where post don't count) would eleminate most of the post in the lounge.........just my 02 cents worth on that one.

I don't think it really matters. The thing is how often can you really post in the more serious forums anyway?. I mean how many times can you or I or anyone answer the constant stupid, repetitve questions like "IS D-BOL ONLY A GOOD CHOICE", or " SOULD TEST BE INCLUDED IN MY CYCLE?". You know what I mean?.

I come to the lounge to relax around good people, post counts don't mean a damn to me.I go to the other forums and chime in if I feel it's neccesary, other than that I keep my thoughts to myself,I'm not in to endangering anyones life excepy myself. So to those that don't like all the high posts, don't know really what to tell you....I trade stocks from 6am til 4pm,sometimes afterhours,if I can't keep one window open for AR to relax I say tuff beans to All!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, my main purpose to be on this board is to learn and hopefully pass that knowledge on to others. I also like to pop in the lounge to relax. I think the lounge is good because it's a place where people can bond and I believe a lot of friendships come out of it.

Who gives a shit about posts, its about strength and lbs baby lbs, i truly hope no one is getting sad about dumb ass titles, while some fawks are replying to threads about nothing the rest of the true ones are gettting theirs in the gym... can i come any more correct then that... i think everyone who visits this board enough knows who to go to for answers, and important issues, the rest are just taking up space with their bloated gynoed asses...half the dipshits in here don't take any advice from people that have been in the game longer anyways... people do what they want.. i think its comical that they make a big deal they have a stupid title? this is what i do, help those that truly deserve the help, and the rest i just laugh at, those punks are here to amuse me... like a clown...
lol
later bros,
take care

I think that the titles based on count give people a sense of belonging and a sense of accomplishment that keeps many people active and involved in posting on the board. It's almost like the age old stick and carrot. If you take this away, you might risk disgruntled people flocking to other boards who hope to get that sense of belonging/accomplishment elsewhere.
As mentioned already by others in this thread and in the thread I posted below, people should take time to research a person by reading his/her posts. If it's a bunch of empty one liners or one word posts, then they're probably not the ones to depend on for information.
PTbyJason,
Is it possible to build a function that automatically sends a new member a PM that BRIEFLY lists links to board rules, a brief list of abbreviations, and two warnings: (1) regarding scammers and (2) regarding "seniority", titles or post count? It would be a personal welcome to the board.
I think getting a welcome PM would be exciting for the new member and will be something that the new member will take time to read (if it's kept BRIEF).
I think a "new member PM" can address the main issue that everone seems to be concerned about--new members being misguided or hurt by relying on just titles or post counts.
There was another thread similar to this one that was floating around not too long ago:

Well it seems that most people don't give a shit about post count to begin with. So if you were to make the Lounge posts NOT count, no one would apparently care. It is your board, and it is up to you, but of course I know you want peoples opinion.
I think it's not a bad idea, I mean, you can just try it for a while and see what happens. I'm pretty sure you can always go back to the way it was, no? Just make the Lounge a place for people to relax and chill and talk non-stop (similar to chatting) and just don't let the posts count. However, if someone starts whoring in another forum, then it would be dealt with seriously, and the person would be warned.
But I really don't know. I had replied to your old 2001 post, and I still have the same thought. Post count doesn't mean anything, and usually more then one person responds to a question. It's up to the person taking in the advice to make a decision on their own, the world of AS is not one with 100% answers and solutions. In a small way, steroids is similar to Philosophy, there is no wrong answer, maybe just bad answers. People are different, give different advice, etc...
Maybe we should hold a vote? Altho, this is something the VETS and MODS should probably talk about and decide amongst themselves, determining what is for the good of the board and it's members.

Hey jason, why don't you just turn on custom titles in the user cp? Then everyone can have what they want. That's what this is all about.

Its funny, cause the vets and the people with high post counts say they dont pay attention to titles. I am sure that just about all newbies do pay attention and listen to people with a higher count

I have yet to see a newbie come in and realize the status of ANABOLIC member compared to SENIOR or MEMBER member. Think a newbie knows the difference? Think a newbie searches for posts with only a mod or vets advice??
Oh, he is an ANABOLIC MEMBER. He must know his shit.
That is bullshit. Newbies, and even regulars dont think like that.
I cant see why people are concerned with the fact that people with custom titles post whore or post mainly in the lounge.
The title status is basically for fun and something to look forward to. It kinda sucks when you keep doing something with little or no reward to be seen.
Who would be a better tram driver? The one who gets paid hourly, or the one who gets paid commision for how many people he got on his tram? Sure he would drive his tram faster and maybe run some people over, but he would enjoy going to work everyday with something to look forward to.
The titles keep a lot of us coming back. Sure it may be a race, but who cares. We have fun on this board and also get and give information.
Not allowing post counts in the AR lounge would RUIN the board. Know why???
Cause I bet a lot of people would start posting a lot more bullshit in the STEROID section.
Keep it the way it is. No problems, so why rework it.

I can see what you're saying...I was thinking that the "Word Association Thread" shouldn't count for awhile, everyone is whoring it up! . I've posted in that probably 20-30 times or more, not to get higher "rank" on AR, but just because it's a fun thread.

as far as my contributions, i keep my mouth shut when i don't know what i'm talking about...i try to add my $0.02 when i do know something - so i post more in diet/workout/supp forums than i do the AS forum. But i do go in there to read, to learn, and offer advice w/ what i DO know...

BASK8KACE- I like your thoughts on this matter. As for me, when I was a newbie asking questions I did look for the Vets and Mods when asking advice, but I also would go through older posts looking to see who gave what appeared to be good sound advice and would often just pm those individuals who sounded like they knew what they were talking about.

I am going to try to cover as many things as possible with this post.
It seems like everyone is saying that post counts and titles don't count so it shouldn't matter, but they don't want post counts from the lounge removed because it shouldn't matter. And posting in the lounge makes it a community for everyone, and taking away post counts will make people not want to post in the lounge, but then again post counts and titles don't matter. It's hard to make it both ways. Please don't stop the discussion on this though. You see how hard it is for the mods and myself to make decisions sometimes. I brought this us 2 years ago. And in 2 years I'm sure someone else will bring it back up again. I don't know the final answer on this, and it honestly doesn't affect my life either way. I can change my post count anytime I want. Keep discussing it. I think we had a poll last time and it was voted not to take away the post count (the compromise was that I removed the post count from the profile in the thread). So if you want to start a poll, feel free to.
The welcome PM. I did it with the old version of vbulletin and I will do it again hopefully at the end of this month. I already have it typed out.
The Karma thing can be done with a click of a button for everyone. The thing is, I don't want "The official give me a karma thread 11/20" like you see at Elite. It can be abused just like everything else.
The hard part about all of this is that some will abuse it and some won't. Some will make posts just to get a new title; some will take offense to it and others won't. To some people post count is very important, but to others it is not.
I really think that post whoring threads do no good. They only push post counts higher and abuse the system. I think I am going to delete them from now on. For the post counts counting in the lounge or not. Feel free to start a poll. For the karma thing, someone start a poll. I listen to everyone. If it's what the majority wants, then I will make it happen unless it causes problems on the board. In which case I will just remove it.

I definetly like the karma idea... Just delete any threads that are asking for it.

yeah - jason and I and the mods have discussed this numerous times but honestly it is a hard decision. people are likely to whore up the steroid board or something else and honestly that idea of having an exalted title even if "it doesnt mean anything" gives a sense of belonging and work so people are more likely to stay and be active.
The Vet system is to recognise those who we really believe have demonstrated knowlege - but of course I am not aware of everyone and many deserving may slip but it is the nature of the game - karma is not bad - as long as the gen forum mods make sure that there is no abusing it - and really I remember Elite so I am a tad leary of it - but then again our members are not the same as were there so who knows>..

CYC, Jason.... I must admit, this is a tough decision, but I'm up for leaving things the way they are, the current system seems to be working, accept the few that abuse the post whoring and all seems good to go for now.

I don't think there is anything wrong with the post count, but again, i don't think lounge replies should go towards them, so maybe a restructuring of the post counts is what I am trying to say. Many are complaining on this thread that they like the lounge and there is nothing wrong with spending most of one's time on the AR Lounge. Nobody is disputing that, it is replies in the Lounge counting towards your post count that is in question. In here people are stating titles don't matter, so if many were demoted by taking away their post counts in the lounge than it shouldn't be a problem right? Ultimately this site is designed for AS users, so when somebody achieves the status of Anabolic Member it is a bit misleading if they made their post count in the Lounge, so maybe appoint people, Anabolic Member and above, instead of reaching that status with a post count. We are all adults here (mostly), yet many of us, me included, have a sense of pride and accomplishment when we do reach a new title. It is kind of frustrating to see members joining a few months ago pass me by, but i do not blame them for doing so, because if i had it my way, i would be here all day instead of work.
