But the THIRD TIME is a little much. Especially when all I ask for is a root beer and not a coke for the EIGHTH time.
I could go on forever about sihtty service and I still tip. But being a punk and trying to steal from someones credit card with adding on fees is not right.

Another add on to this thread cause I think I now hate ALL servers.
I read the other threads and saw the visine and add your own tip posts.
1: You can lose your job and be charged FEDERAL for typing in a tip amount that exceeds the original amount written in by the CC holder. It has happened twice. Losing their job. Not being charged.
2: Some whore bitch waitress at Red Robin did that visine thing to me cause she was a dumb ass whore who refused to listen and get it through her head about our orders. Like I said earlier, even down to the coke and root beer thing 8 times. LITERALLY, every refill was coke instead of root beer. 8 times. Before she picked up my glass I said ROOT BEER.
She also relunctantly took my food back 3 times cause each time it had quacamoli on it.
Well I let it slide for awhile but then I just became an asshole cause she was ruining my lunch iwth my friends.
SO the whore put visine in my root beer. 10 minutes later I had the ****s so bad. Luckily I lived 5 minutes away and was going home anyway.
I called up a few of my friends who were real bitches. Gave them some money to go eat at Red Robins and told them the story and told them where to sit. I dont know the exact of it but those girls came back laughing their asses off.
They made the waitress start crying so hard in the middle of the restaruant that she left work for the day.
They can be total bitches for the fun of it. I love em.
I should have them fukc with my bartender friend.

I tip 20% for regular service, atleast 25% if the person is good, which seems to quite rare lately, if they piss me off from the start then it's nothing, and I complain to management so I can get all my food free, lol. Lastly if it's a pretty waitress, well we all let alot more slide and still lay a fat tip out

I make them take it off and that is the last time I will go there. If the waiter or waitress was good I'll tip at least that and most of the time more anyway but it should not be a given. I have never seen a law where tipping is required. Also I think tip-jars are like begging. Are you panhandling or making my **** Mocha latte. No I'm not a cheap bastard but making good tips should not be a given. hell most waitresses at places I regular think I'm a good tipper but I go their cause I get good service.

What if I had a long drive home or was going somewhere other than home. I could not hold that in. It was a mess in that bathroom. I honestly think some exploded out of the toilet.
No I dont hate all servers. I was drunk and went to dennys at 2am and my friends took my silverwear away from me cause I would have hurt myself. I told my waitres I needed a knife to cut my pancakes and my friends said I was banned from using sharp objects.
So she got a knife from the table, cut my panakes and fed them to me for five minutes.
She got a good tip and was off at 3 am

But it is legal for them to say "on parties of 8 or more 15 % gratuity is automatically added to the bill" right ??
sometimes i don't see why they do this. if you had 15 %, you're only gonna get 15 %. me and my friends aren't stingy with the money, so you would have gotten probably 25 % because everyone just throws in.

Speaking of tipping... I went to saltgrass steakhouse in houston the other day. Price range $12-25 an entree. My date works at another restaraunt in the same chain so she gets 50% off. Are you su pposed to tip 15% on the original price or the discounted one? Well anyway the bill comes it's 36.50 or something for both of us. She gets the 50% off and it comes out to 18. I leave a $5 tip and make it 23. Few days later I check my account balance and that asshole had turned my 3 into an 8 and I got charged $28. Next time i'm in houston you can be sure I'm going to pay that restraunt a visit....

I tip according to service... period. I've left some VERY generous tips for good service... but if I get sihtty service I will only leave a few nickels and pennies... and wait around to enjoy their reaction. fcuk 'em.
I bartended in college so I know how the game works.

one thing you guys are failing to realize is that it is itemized on the bill, it's not a hidden charge, so if you sign it, it's assumed that you've read it, just like any other contract, i seriously doubt that you could have charges brought up against you for adding the tip on the bill. the servers are charged taxes for the sales they generate, because the government assumes that they are receiving a tip, that's why servers only get paid $2 an hour, so if you don't tip, it's like charging me personally to wait on you, that's also why they are allowed to add it on to the bill

no, we realize it. but when someone changes the number from it's original value, then there's a shady business going on - especially when the purchasee has a copy of the receipt with imprints.
-
01-02-2004, 10:39 AM #57
why is that shady, it's spelled out for you right above where you sign? do you always sign contracts you don't read?
-

I always tip over 20% no matter how the service was and if it's really good I go up to 40%....... Some things can't be helped and it's not always the servers fault............... I worked in restaurants all through school so I know how hard it can be sometimes.

i generally tend to tip 20% minimum at the resteraunts i frequent often. i like it that all the servers are super nice and know exactly what i order. in other places the tip is determined by service.
-

that's the secret, become a regular at a place and you don't even have to tip that great, just be a cool person, tip 10-15% every time and you'll get great service in most places, having someone tip you a big amount is great, but as a server, you make your money off of regulars, so we know who to take care of

This thread had me laugh. I like Scott's, IronCY's and 50%'s points. Bermich how come you couldn't have any sharp objects? Going through some rough times then?

my glass is the tip meter, if it stays filled, then they shall get a good one, if it is low more than once, they get less than a buck, and if it ever gets empty once, they dont get ****, if they had an education or motivation theyd have a job paying them.

well when somebody makes a comment like that, what is this clown thinking? He is a normal guy just like me and to think of me as no motivation or lazy or whatever is pretty stupid. You should have seen the look on this guy's face when I called him out at the party though. It was hilarious to call him a chip ass bitch in front of a bunch of people.

And big ol legs putting the tip on the table and taking some away every time the server is not 100% on the ball sounds like a good way to wind up eating food that someone spit in.

yeah, it was a bad reason to start a fight and I calmed down but college students should just know. The guy was in my class a couple semesters before so he knew me. I am not looking for anything bad ass or nothing like that. Acutally here is what happened so you will understand why I almost faught him. I was at a party my frat threw and I was behind a bar serving and getting myself some margaritas from a machine we had. he walked up(not in any frat, uninvited) and demanded some drinks. I was like what? I go well go ahead and drop a few bucks for the party. He was like why? I said you didn't pay for the alcohol and he said something to that and then I said, oh wait, I remember, you are a cheap muther$ucker, I remember you. I called him cheap to his face, then he walked a way talking to his boy who was a little bigger and I heard it and was like hey bitch, try talking **** to my face and that is the reason. Not necessarily tipping, but I called him out on it and he didn't like it. Honestly, I am happy with my job, yeah it sucks to get crappy tips but I do okay. I just try to enlighten some who don't have any idea what we do.

man, if you dont get a tip, its prlly bc of the service, you can all say what u like about me, and my education, but illl compare the uni i graduated from with anyone. and id love for you to meet me and say that. my stats are not hard to find big guy. the bottom line is this, if your a waiter and thats your desired job field, your a unmotivated ****. if u dont get a tip, most of the time its bc of your work, if u wanan get paid good, then get a good job, if your to dumb to see that, then serve me my ****in chicken and get the **** away.

I tip based on service.
Service is not how quickly you get your food.. but it is how quickly you get your beverages and how correct your order is. If she's hot and friendly it's also a plus. I understand that it's the chefs that are responsible for the wait for food, so i don't deduct for that, but if she's a bitch or slow with her part of the bargian, or if my food is wrong, i just won't tip her well. If the service is good i do 30%. If it's ****ty, on one or two occasions i've left less than a dollar. You can't expect to make me wait an hour to even ask me for my order, and then leave my drink empty the entire meal while getting my order wrong and expect a good tip at the same timeLast edited by chrisAdams; 01-02-2004 at 04:14 PM.
