What you guys are doing here is miss leading and is totally distorting the truth. The title of this news segment is "The Truth About Steroids ". Why don't you take a minute to tell the truth! From the clip I saw, there is no proof that this teenager was not just going through normal teenage stages of high testosterone and raging hormones. How does hitting a wall and getting upset on a basketball court indicate any unusual teenage behavior. I had worse behavior and never touched steroids at that age. You are causing a bigger problem by showing teenagers and parents this segment. More teenagers will now be more curious on these drugs and will want to become "the big man on campus". Why don't you tell them about stunted growth and fused growth plates. TELL THE TRUTH Will steroids kill many of the people who use them or just 1 out of 100 million? How many people will DIE from the use vs. will have serious long term side effects. That's a real story! I am not saying that steroids should be used by teenagers. This will more than likely cause permanent side effects. Tell them that they will stay 5' 5" their entire life due to using anabolic steroids at a young age. That will work better than trying to blow smoke up their asses and telling them they will die. They are much smarter than that. They see their peers move on every year to be successful people AFTER leaving school and AFTER using anabolic steroids . Do you really think that they will believe they will die from using steroids? That answer is easy one.



We do not agree with teenagers using steroids, but we want them to know the truth.

I totally agree with that, however here is my dilemna. SOme Gung Ho reporter decides to become a member. Next he gets known, posts some good info, people like him and trust him, so then he PM's someone, hey do you got a ? Then a couple more times, now there is a Fox Undercover story about ****** ******* online from our well protected *******. Thats my worry.

I agree completely. Bringing attention to this or any other message board is the worst idea I have heard of, next to the thead on Testicular Injection. Its not like they would print an informed, education story on the good and bad sides of steroids , they would just report how steroids are delt through the internet, and focus a ton of attention on that. Boards would no longer be the educational places they should be, rather a bunch of people watching what they say because it could end up on an ABC Primetime report.

Even if they do find out the truth and come to realize that steroidas are not as bad as they are made out to be they will never give it a fair story because americans have been brain washed for years about how bad they are and they would lose respect in the public eye (even if it is the real story). No person is goin to tune into a prgram called the upside of steroid use because they already have their own preconceived notions about them..... because doctors know best and they say they are bad...
It;s really a sad thing that AS can not get a fair portrayal.....

I recently viewed your clip "the truth about steroids " and i find it rather hard to swallow that this is the "truth". I feel that you have not represented steroid use in a fair manner at all. I am not condoning that a kid goes out and does steroids but i find it perfectly reasonable for an adult to use them. I think if you wanted to do this story in a "fair, unbiased manner" (and really tell the truth) then you should tell kids why they shouldn;t use them.... not because they will DIE but rather that it can lead to stunted bone growth, and can permenently mess up there endocrine system. Kids are not stupid and saying they will DIE is a very false representation of the truth. Another thing which really got to me was when one of the people you interviewed said "the ultimate result of steroids is suicide"this statement just goes to show once again the bias which the media has against these agents.
I think it is perfectly safe for an adult to use steroids in order to enhance their own bodies. From my research and from what i have gathered on workout boards using steroids is no more dangerous than drinking (even safer). It is well know that alcohol creates dependancy and can severly alter someones mental and emotional state but there are no studies which show steroids to have these affects, however alcohol is still legal.... I don;t understand how a responsible adult can drink and do harm to their body and not use steroids which can help their body and make them healthier. One very widespread notion is that steroids cause severe liver damage. This is not 100% strue. Oral steroids which are 17-alpha alkylated can over time cause liver damage however when run in a moderate dose and duration will not affect the liver that severly (also with precautions the chance can be greatly reduced). injectable steroids pose an even less danger because they do not have to go through the liver to become active as orals do.
Another point which i would like to see you actually prove is the violent mood swings which you speak of. If this is such a widespread problem then i woudl think that it would be covered much more since there are literally thousands of people who use these body enhancing drugs. If someone already has a bad temper then, it is true that steroids could enhance this and make it more intense but i do not think that saying all users have these violent mood swings is a ver fair representation.
In closing I would like to ask that you please take the time to do some research, get informed, and then represent something in an educated, unbiased way rather than taking the word of a teenager who should have never touched steorids in the first place. If you are so inclined please do a search on google or some other search engine and look into some steroid boards or just do a search trying to find the negatvie results of steroids as compared to alcohol or evn doctor prescribed medicines. I think in doing so you will find out that steroids are not as bad as the media makes them out to be and with a little bit of good reporting we could show the general population this.
