aspirate question

I have been having my brother administer my test and eq shots for the last 7 weeks and now i know how to do everything in regards to injections watching my brother except for aspirating. We got in a fight and he said piss off so now its up to me to inject my self. After sticking the pin into the glute muscle, i pull back on the plunger just a little bit right to see if it draws blood, right? If i see blood i am in a vein and redo into different spot. So basically just pull back on the plunger just a little bit to see if it draws blood?

You got it-If you are not in a vein you will create a vacuum and a small amount of air will appear as soon as you release it will go away. Make sure to hold it out for a few seconds, sometimes it takes a bit for the blood to come in.

Just pull back slightly on the plunger. Red is bad....pull out the syringe, change the needle and find another site.
