Food for thoughts: Mosquito bite whilst on cycle
Who would happen to the person / the mosquito when bitten on cycle?
I can accept the fact that the amount of blood taken by a mosquito is so minute that it will not cause too much losses to the muscle building process.
But how will it affect the mosquito? or Steriods only affects vertebrates?

Considering that they have no muscles, not too much:
"The mosquito is composed of a head, thorax, and abdomen. The head contains two compound eyes and proboscis. The proboscis is a piercing mouthpart used to suck blood from its prey. The mosquito's head is mostly eye. Each eye is made up of many tiny lenses forming a compound eye. This type of eye allows a very big field of vision that easily detects movement. Next is the thorax. The thorax has one pair of wings and one pair of halteres. The thorax also has markings that are used in the identification of the mosquito. The abdomen, or gut, expands as it ingests its prey's blood. The abdomen also has many markings that are used to identify the mosquito species."
Not sure I whould have created a thread for this

mosquito muscles
OK... this is lame but i have to weigh in.. as I have a degree in biology and physiology and have dissected many insects, animals etc. They do have muscles, although i'm not sure how much they'd grow. Since mosquitos have an exoskeleton, their muscles could potentially grow enough to squish their other body parts and kill them.
They need muscles to move. Just like us.

Cute. Not sure what effect a high testosterone titer in blood would have on a female mosquito looking to lay eggs. Obtaining the proteins to lay eggs is why female mosquitoes feed on blood but the males, who just need to satisfy their own metabolic needs, only need nectar, such as occurs in flowers. (Male mosquitoes are kinda wussy).
