Shrugs. Roll shoulders?
I was just wondering how many of you guys roll your shoulders or just come straight up while doing shrugs?

I just go straight up and down, I've heard that there is more chance of injury from rolling. I don't know if that's true, but I don't risk it. I'll stay verticle and do a set up and down, then lean slightly forward and do a set up and down, then lean slightly back. Rinse and repeat.

I heard that as well. Thats why i was wondering because it seems like i feel and get a better pump them when i roll them. Maybee i should go back to up and downs.

Try with leaning forward and then back as well, I feel like I hit them from different angles that way.

HHHHmmmmm I did not see a gear related question.

Don't roll them !
Doing heavy deads i no longer train my traps directly but when i did, heavy BB with grip inside shoulders width straight up and down. When you get to the top try and pause/contract for a second or two, lower and repeat.

all the way up and down, sometimes I will hold for 1 second in the up position. Depends how I feel, but rolling is a no no, not only is it a bad motion for your shoulders but it makes you look like a newb.

i like doing power shrugs
also cable to neck for traps is really good too. Front and back shrugs with barbell is also good or dumbell shrugs. Lots of workouts to do ... even upright rows is really good if you do it properly.
