why is a good base NEEDED?

i worked out religiously for 5 years straight then went off and on for a couple years and now been back in it for several months. I'm almost to the same I was when i hit my peak. So i'm pretty much is my best shape again, just not quite 100% there yet. so I think i'm ok.

how bout posting a pic with stats so we can give our opinion on whether you are ready or not

no offense to you, but you have a vested interest in cycling which creates a shadow of bias on your opinion

we don't have this bias so our opinion will be complete objective

It's not a question about relevance. I have enough time in at the gym to know what i'm doing there. I have my diet straight. The only thing I was asking about was, is a good base NEEDED before starting a cycle. Not "base" as in a point of relevance.
