how do i do self bloodletting?

id rather not have to drive to a donation center everytime I want to donate.. much rather would just do this myself and let it drain out the sink............


are there any guides for a safe way of doing blood letting myself? don't want to die of heart attack

I doubt this is an answer you're going to like, but you can use leeches.

That is how it was done for almost 2000 years. George Washington, Ben Franklin, Kings in England...all done via leaches. It was a primary treatment for Gout. Some did it via cutting and bleeding.

Easier to go to the blood mobile I would say.

Just bcuz u can doesn't always mean you should ! I am sure for those with any real medical training blood letting can be achieved without a problem........ However, most of us aren't in that category. I would rather take the ride then try a home procedure, leeches, or a knife fight.

For Christ's sake, self-bloodletting is not difficult as long as you have the right materials. There is almost no risk of infection as long as you use sterile materials and some common sense. When I first started I found it was easiest just to give myself an IV in my arm and just refrain from connecting the saline bag. I let it drain into a measuring cup and always have a buddy with you in case you faint.

Just google or youtube it. As far as the historical figures, Washington did live to be 67. He had some sort of infection/inflammation in his throat and as medical knowledge at the time was still primitive, bloodletting was believed to help. Bloodletting most likely contributed to his death but only because it was done in excess while he was already in a weakened state. Modern day antibiotics were not available at the time.

It is unfair to attribute death at an early age to bloodletting under those circumstances as well as claiming that it will most definitely shorten your life. It can if you do not do it right though.

I have actually seen leeches used for blood letting. Here in China it is a fairly common practice. Buddy system for blood letting for sure.

Still have me lost. How does bleeding = responsible cycling? That's a serious question BTW, I'm not being facetious.

If you could site references for your answer too, I'd be happy to take the time to read up on it. I just can't for the life of me think of why this would increase cycle safety.

I don't see the need for this or giving blood unless your RBC count is completely out of wack.

At no point does Austinite suggest prophylactic bloodletting; he does, however suggest it as an option over donating blood (in Canada AAS use is a 1 year deferral from donating) IF your hematocrit is dangerously high. Phlebotomy is considered an invasive procedure, however minimal it may seem. Any invasive procedure has risk if complications. Do you have a dangerously high hematocrit? Or are you simply trying to avoid it? If the latter, blood work and monitoring BP are what you need, not bleeding into a bathtub.

But to each their own I suppose.

I think the whole point is that some ppl to include myself can't donate blood for on reason or another. It is a healthy thing to do regardless of rbc or hematocrit. I'm doing it only because I'm on trt and can't donate. I'm not for sure about the op.

austinite suggests that we donate blood or do self blood letting to cycle responsibly so that we have our blood levels in the proper levels.. i'm about to do 500mg test cyp/week 16 weeks.. I plan to take an aspirin everyday as well as keep my RBC within the healthy range. I recently have tattoos, new piercings, and I also take Accutane and dutasteride and think it would be unethical to give my blood donor blood tainted w/ tattoo ink, the metal from the piercing, dangerously high levels of testosterone , Accutane, and dutasteride. also I don't want to drive to the place since its 30 minutes away.. so I am exploring the option of how to do self bloodletting as I don't want to be an idiot and die of a heartache like zy zz ....................................

Just like to state- the reason for excluding donors with tattoos is not because "the tattoo ink taints the blood" It is because tattoo equipment is a possible vector for communicable deseases (HIV, hep C, etc) especially back in the day with rudimentary equipment.

So they are worried a donor contracted a disease from the tattoo process, that is the reason.
