rise in mma popularity...
do you guys think that the rise in MMA popularity is going to make it easier to 'make it' as a competitor because of the advent of new organizations and fan base or do you think it will make it more difficult because all of the TUF fans have now decided they want to train 'cage fighting', thereby making a larger competitor base?

i think it'll be harder because there are alot of guys who have been doing it for years. most were focusing on either standup or ground games and now with mma being a reality, they're diving into the other. it makes an easy transition for someone who has been doing it for years. also, many gyms are opening up focusing specifically on mma. therefore more people will do it.

I think it's going to flood the market with "cage fighters"...some people been training for years and now this is gonna get alot of joe schmoe's off the street flooding the events. Then when you get some real good and technical fighters, people will "boo" because 2 lesser trained people throwing stupid punches looks more exciting than 2 people doing a controlled and skillful fight.

if anything, the influx will make it more challenging to get to the top
on the other hand, in class we have some kid that thinks hes a bad ass cause his haymaker knocked out someone once and now he wants to be a cage fighter....ive yet to see one last more than 3 months of training, they all dissapear
any time any one says they want to cage fight....you konw right away...oh jeez not another one

It will only create more "amateur" organizations (i.e. NFC) to grow in popularity in order to create stepping-stones for high-end organizations such as PRIDE

ya, i noticed that too. dammit, i can't believe his name is escaping me right now. he's like 6'7 and wears a cowboy hat all the time and was on one of those TUF shows. i think he had only been training for like 8 months or something, but i think that he has a huge strength/size/marketing advantage.
