Yes he did...In IFC I believe, ~2002 or 2003 maybe.

If Sobral is Shogun's first fight in the UFC it will be a different outcome.

Yep, Shogun's lone loss (if you dont count that hurt arm fluke) by guillotine choke. It was both of those guy's second fight that night. Shogun was young, maybe 20. It only helped him as you can see.

He can always fight Babalu in the UFC and work him over.
