Strikeforce's Dennis Hallman and Alexander Crispim Test Positive for Steroids
Posted by MMA Junkie on November 29, 2007 at 2:28 pm ET
Dennis Hallman and Alexander Crispim, who last competed at a Nov. 16 Strikeforce show in San Jose, Calif., have both tested positive for anabolic steroids.
California State Athletic Commission executive Bill Douglas today released news of the failed tests and suspensions.
Hallman, a former UFC fighter, defeated Jeremiah Metcalf with a first-round heel hook at the event, which was dubbed, "Strikeforce: Four Men Enter, One Man Survives." Crispim, a former Gladiators Challenge fighter, defeated Clint Coronel via unanimous decision. Neither fight appeared on the Yahoo! Sports live broadcast of the event, which took place at the HP Pavilion.
Hallman tested positive for Drostanolone and Nandrolone Metabolite, and Crispim tested positive for Desoxymethyltestosterone. According to Douglas, both have been fined $2,500 and suspended one year.
Hallman's suspension period began at the conclusion of his bout on Nov. 16 and runs through the remainder of his licensing year, which is Oct. 8, 2008. An additional 38 days will be added when he renews his fighter's license to fulfill the term of his suspension. Crispim's suspension period began at the conclusion of his bout and runs through the remainder of his licensing year, which is March 29, 2008. An additional 231 days will then be added when he renews his license.
Hallman (38-12-2), a 10-year veteran who's competed for just about every major MMA organization, is perhaps best known as the only fighter to have ever beaten former UFC champion Matt Hughes twice. He had fought in the International Fight League just prior to his Strikeforce debut on Nov. 16

Why would you take something that would be in your system for so long as in Halls case.

I thought these guys got ahold of things that are new and upcoming arent detected yet? seems a bit dim taking something that's a) very well known and b) stays in your system - RDTs you have to be ready for them

The random testing system is dumb. Either test everyone, or test no one.
If you're testing just 2 guys out of 12 guys at an event... (which is pretty close to what they do, from what I understand)
than well, you are still putting the odds in favor of getting away with it.. so it does not deter many at all.
