Thread: Lesnar Mir fight.

sooners, I won't take the bait....no I won't... ok, i will.
I would state it more as Mir survived 90 seconds as oppose to the other way. Just depends on what side of the fence your on. It can be stated either way and argued for eternity.
As far as big nog, that was just a different fight... I don't think it was a part of the fight plan therefore it can't be used as a comparison for a fight plan. It just ended up different.
I can't argue that gracie didn't get pounded at times, but it was also a multi-fight elimination. He gassed out and a lot did at those times and that is the reason the ufc changed it up.
No i don't think anytime someone gets a submission it was a break. I have seen many great setups and submissions throughout the years, and this wasn't anything good or tactical....and I wasn't impressed.. he chalked up the win and that's the end of story. just don't try to convince me it was some master plan and he was some bad arse dude. He barely pulled that one off and was not dominant. And that's what makes me keep posting to this thread is because of people making it sound like that. everyone has what they call a punchers chance.
The thing is many feel that this fight threatens the ufc...so they bag on the opponent. They feel that it is not good because if some guy just comes off the street and wins in the cage the ufc will lose credibility. That's is where you get all the kimbo haters, lesnar haters, etc... I on the other hand think it is good for the cage... get some diversity and controversy... good stuff.

I agree that the publicity will be good for the UFC and probably MMS in general; especially if Lesnar does as I mentioned several times in my posts and improves his BJJ skills enough to keep it on the feet so he can beat the crap out of people.

the fight happened just like it should of... imo (Mir was gonna tap him out after gettin pounded on, OR brock was gonna pound him out alone, either way mir was gettin pounded) lol
wait till Brock gets more mma experience!
LESNER vs KIMBO.... now thats a fair fight!

In my opinion Lesnar should have seen that sub coming. Mir telegraphed the hell outa that sub, we called it liek seconds before he did it. Brock needs to work on his JJ game and he can be a succesfull fighter. Also the kneebar wasnt that great either. Mir talks about it in a couple of his post fight interviews. Brock jus didnt have the experience to know how to get out of it, and also Mir is a strong motherfuker and cranked the shit outta of it, but it wasnt that tight
Also for people saying Mazigatti is an idiot and he shouldnt have gave Brock the deduction here is his reasoning

KIMBO vs. BROCK LESNER. That would be a big fight as far as the hype. UFC could make a lot of money from that fight. They have both about the same number of MMA fights. I think at this point in their careers would be the best time to fight. There is a lot of hype about both of them entering professional MMA.

The thing is another Brock win, or even doing well for himself, would be good for the UFC. Brock is NOT just any some guy off the street either. The guy is 6’3” and 265 pounds, even if not as massive as his wrestling days, 265 at < 10% fat, is STILL HUGE.
Add to that size + strength, the guy is a former wrestling champion. He has a lot of skill on the ground, and with a little more work on submissions, well he has a lot of tools, with a good amount of polish already.
If a 260+ pound guy is a former wrestling champion, not WWE style, but actual mat wrestling, that alone makes him a very dangerous opponent, and just because the guy did work in the WWE does not make him any less legitimate than anyone else with the same size, power, and record of mat wrestling wins.
If that is what you call, “anyone off the street”, then I sure don’t want to get into a fight where you are from.

meathead,
I agree with you...you missed my point... What I am saying in the previous post and then followed with the one at top of this page,is that a lot of cage fighters work hard in MMA discipline to try to get to the top and anyone who has not moved through the same structure of hierarchy, then that is what is considered a "walk in" or off the "streets". Lesnar or anyone that has not gone through the process is not welcome. I understand this feeling, but on the same tokken, let the sport shut that avenue down by itself. No need to hate on anyone for their shot at it because they didn't go through the same process.
yes, lesnar is not a chump...like I have already said, world class wrestlers have always dominated on the floor in the ufc, even with the best grapplers and submission fighters in the world. their only downfall is submission tactics.

This is why i hate having a former clown...er professional wrestler...in real fighting. Just look at the threads about wrestlers pop up. It blurs the lines between bullshit and fighting.
