See the crocop vs bob sapp fight to get an idea of liddell vs kimbo. http://youtube.com/watch?v=uWx5Y_-sh-U
I want to see kimbo beat bob sapp, the ORIGINAL big black, before people give him all this credit.

Chuck was a D1 collegiate wrestler and is highly trained in brazilian jiu jitsu, the guy has ground game even if he does prefer striking so Kimbo grabbing him wouldnt mean shit. To say Kimbo would lay him out in a street fight is pretty out there too, you think Chuck hasn't been in street fights? These guys just don't wake up one day and decide to walk into an octagon cage to fight. Kimbo learned to fight in the street while Chuck has been trained by/with some of the best fighters in the world for like 25 years, Kimbo can fight granted but he is not on the same level in any sense.

no way i could see kimbo beating liddell in MMA.. no way!! chuck would beat his arse!! he can hit just as hard! and has a way better ground game! Kimbos never fough anyone with such tallent!

Zero similarities between Sapp and Kimbo. Sapp is a freak show with limited fighting skill and ability. Kimbo has skill and actually displayed good boxing skill even in his 'street' fights. Just watch his head movement, stance, short punches, and accuracy. I think a lot of you guys would see this if you put down the hatorade for a moment. The only way Chuck could beat him IMO is on the ground because although Chuck has tremendous punching power, he doesn't have good boxing skill. He relies way to much on the counter wide, overhand right. He doesn't have good head movement or hand placement. Least of all short technical punching prowess.
I thought long and hard before I posted this because I know the flaming will begin. Why? Because people have a hard time accepting the shortcomings of their heroes. So please flame away! LoL!

chuck has earned his right to say what he wants about anyone in the sport. wether you agree of disagree with him you should respect his opinion. chuck would never accept this fight, then he would be giving him what he wants. kimbos got good hands, but the last time i checked this was mma and just having hands is a fraction of the game. about chucks ground game, think about it for a second, chuck has been training for over 10 yrs (just guessing) im sure that he dosnt just train string and takedown defense. kimbos got skills, i just like people to prove theirselves.

I still say Kimbo would drop chuck if they exchange.... the bottom line of cage fighting is that each use there advantage to win...some fight with fists, sylvia, chuck, etc... others go straight to the ground... that is the beauty of the sport...
now, chuck likes to punch it out and I think Kimbo would drop him pretty quick... if chuck was to get punched by Kimbo like he did on his last few fights, he will go down. Also, those who keep saying Kimbo hasn't done shit in MMA are right, but way wrong if you think he doesn't have any standup game.. anyone that really knows anything about a)boxing, b)any street fight...knows Kimbo has some mean power and good hand skills. and to say that doesn't mean shit is idiotic. DO you really think any guy that just has good punching power will look like kimbo in a fight??...
Kimbo's real test in the "MMA" world is how will he handle a ground attack...not, he hasn't even fought anyone with MMA handskills.. that is ignorance... don't bank on that.

agreed with every thing except him dropping chuck in the stand up game. i have yet to see his chin get tested, could be good or bad, that is a big question imo about kimbo. i dont think that chuck has fought someone with the punching power of kimbo, but he has faced guys with WAY more technique (standing, not ground game) wich is just as important if not more than power.

He offered a pretty big boy a free couple of shots at the face... now the dude didn't get clean power shots, but Kimbo is no joke or glass jaw. I agree with your perspective too, except tell me who are the ones you are referring to in the highlighted area?? I'd be interested on who you are talking about.

everyone thinks kimbo has excellent hands and can out box chuck... has any one see liddell vs belfort?? even though im a big vitor fan chuck beat him at his own game... kimbo needs to stop fighting has beens and step up to a real fighter...

In fact Vitor is one of my favs or i should say was one of my favs... I did see that fight also, it was another one of those fights were I was waiting for Vitor to really turn it on and exchange and he never did... which didn't suprise me, just pissed me off as usual... he rocked chuck on a couple of punches early and Chuck knocked him down a lil later, but it wasn't a sick one he just sat down and waited for chuck to come in and chuck didn't...combination of square stance on Vitor's footing and a good connect from Chuck's punch.... actually the fight wasn't very eventful and turned out kind of a boring fight considering those two's history with standup game... .
anyhow, I am thinking more along the lines of Keith Jardine and Chuck... if chuck does that for Kimbo he will taste some harder punches than Jardine dishes out...
I also have to agree with BigMac31 on weights... Kimbo is just too big for chuck.

i know perfect newbie fight!! Kimbo vs Lesnar!!
lesnar would take him to the ground quickly!! kimbo might be strong but i guarentee lesnar has the power to do it!

didnt chuck just fight wand and smash him up... wand has some deadly hands... so yes chuck has fought guys with knock out power... just go down the list and look at all the top guys chuck has put out.. and then go and look at who kimbo has beat..

it will be interesting to see how both kimbo and lesnar turn out... as a matter of fact that would be an aweome fight right now! 2 bad ass lookin guys with tons of hype they both would have alot to prove. even though brock lost his first ufc match, it was against former champ frank mir! and lesnar looked good before he got submitted..
-
04-08-2008, 12:43 PM #63
yeah i understand that and all but if some big beast lookin dude grabs you its over!!! LOL!!!! anyways all of this crap is "what if" scenarios. we are all in here just talking shyt really. we all know that Chuck and Kimbo would never have a scheduled fight....unless it was in the hood.

Kimbo would win in a street fight? Who cares? On top of that I doubt it. Lidell has fought a who's who of MMA and Kimbo has barely beat James Thompson, Tank Abbott, and Bo Cantrell! Not exactly Vanderlei Silva, Vitor Belfort, and Tito Ortiz. But hey when is the last time you saw Chuck fight some out of work pig bouncer on Youtube? The argument is silly and should not even take place. Kimbo is good for the sport if he draws more fans to the sport and allows them to see what a great sport it is but comparing him to the all time greats is a bit premature.

LOL.. So Chuck would fight worse in the street than he does in the ring? Is that the logic here? Don't see it, not sure about the logic either. Its a simple equation stack the people Chuck has fought and beaten agains thte people Kimbo has beaten and you instantly see you're comparing apples and oranges here.
Kimbo has marketability and as a promoter I recognize and can respect that but as far as match making is concerned only an idiot promoter would put Kimbo in the ring with Chuck, look what Seth did and Chuck is easily ten times the fighter of seth.
I'm not a fanboy for Chuck or anything, I'm just being honest. Also to set the record straight Chuck was a great wrestler but has also been training BJJ for years now out of John Lewis' Academy in Vegas, and has a good ground game (not world class like NOg or alot of others) but is not likely to get owned on the ground by anyone. He should try to stop getting knocked out though

You hit the nail on the head..just compare the fight records of the two and it becomes obvious that you're comparing apples and paper oranges. Kimbo isn't nearly in the same league as Chuck.
And for the record I'm not a Chuck fanboy or anything, facts are just facts.

Kimbo couldn't get a title in any promotion.
