where do you train out of prone? Do you think one year is a realistic goal for a blue belt?
-

You will like rolling and it will make you feel confident and it will cut down on the time you spend on the treadmill which is a plus

01-18-2009, 10:11 PM #10
im kinda nervous, my friends been doing it about a year and he said i will be humbled by being tapped over and over again lol
cassio has some sweet videos on youtube he is legit 2003 world champ
-
01-18-2009, 10:15 PM #11

-
01-18-2009, 10:19 PM #12
any tips? im very nervous and excited.
-
01-18-2009, 10:41 PM #13
stay excited because you are going to be weaker then most but after time you will be rolling with everyone like you have been there for years.. I always like to say walk into it like a white sheet of paper (mean you dont know anything and learn just like you did when you started this sight) and then go from there
-
01-18-2009, 11:05 PM #14
Just keep a positive attitude because you are literally going to be tapping to people 50lbs lighter that you would easily assume that you could destroy. But if its a good school without ego the guys will be great and willing to work a lot with you as long as you don't act like an asshole. And for gods sake tap. There is no honor in trying to be stubborn....you'll end up going to sleep or breaking something. Have fun
-
01-18-2009, 11:11 PM #15
yeah cassio kicks out wanna be cage fighters and ego people
-
01-18-2009, 11:17 PM #16

Im going to re-arrange my WO split too, No way ill make it to the Gym after BJJ
-
BJJ is awesome, I love being able to take down dudes a lot bigger than me and making them give up. And yes you will be humbled yourself many many many times. But if you learn from each and every failure, you learn ten times more than every success.
-
01-20-2009, 12:29 AM #24
^^^^agreed! You will love it but remember to stay positive and learn from the beatings. Let us know how it goes
-
01-20-2009, 12:31 AM #25

01-20-2009, 03:24 PM #26

^^^Yup your right we did drills and practiced technique then the last 30 mins i rolled with this white belt who'd been there for 4months and it was hard core but somehow i tapped him with a rear naked, then we went for another round and no one got nothing,
Then a 17yr old 150lbs purple belt tapped me 3 times in 15mins but the last half he didnt get me. I exerted alot of energy and muscled more then technique cuz ima nub but the purple belt said i did very well and have great potential, and the white belt told me i was strong a Fvck and did a great Job, I luv this stuff. Also im starting a boxing Intro Class on Feb 23rd and then 6 weeks later after completion i can take the advanced class which is another 6 weeks doing the basics of Muay thai
-
My first time that I rolled, I went up against a blue belt that was going to compete. He was fighting at the 155lbs class and i think he needed to gains some weight still for his fight. Anyway he was pretty good and slammed the **** out of me, i was about 210 at the time and found out quickly that technique over brute strength would win most of the time.

01-21-2009, 01:27 AM #30
LOL^^^^ Thats awesome, Im sure he was just messing with me, And we started from the ground, But i had a little War with the White belt, I think im going to do this 3 days a week for the next year, and 2 days of Boxing and Muay Thai, And count that as cardio cuz the sheot is intense, Maybe i should up my carbs 50-100 grams on training days
-
01-21-2009, 12:01 PM #31
I am glad you liked it, I can tell you are hooked now keep us updated on your progress..Yes up your carbs
-
01-21-2009, 12:35 PM #32
this blue belt in my class won the world championship for white belt at his weight class when he was white belt.
-
01-21-2009, 04:49 PM #33

-
01-22-2009, 10:55 AM #34
okie doke lol.
Hey i need some diet help now because im obviously going to have to eat alot more carbs to keep good energy levels,Also how often do you guys train i was going to weight train 3-4days a week still.I train HIT so i can get in and out quick and still grow, but i dont wanna overtrain.
Neways i was thinking like 3150ish Kcals 200-225Protein 80fat and 400carbs? what do u think divided among 8 meals,Higher Carbs according to the meals their needed in.
-
01-22-2009, 10:58 AM #35
i mean if im traing with weights four days a week and doing cardio thoes days, Then Doing BJJ on top of that for 2 days then soon adding Muay Thai 2 days that should be sufficient im thinking
-
01-22-2009, 11:37 AM #36
More than sufficient. You can almost go back to eating crappy!
-
01-22-2009, 12:45 PM #37
think thats overtraining? i mean ill take in a slight calorie surplus once i get it down to find out how much i need
-
01-22-2009, 03:06 PM #38
Maybe a little. but give it a chance and see how the body responds. its great that you are enjoying it so much
-
01-23-2009, 12:26 PM #39
