I need some help, Im doing very well im getting 100% better it seems each class, I even sub students around my skill level. So far if only been subbed by higher belts, But the other day this first time Wrestler Came into class and he would keep jumping to his feet when we were rolling he went for a Guillotine choke and the RNC after he couldnt get the Guillotine and i kept defending untill eventually i was in his guard then passed to side control where i ezquiel choked his ass.
What can i do to out smart or just make it easier to deal with these wrestler types???

Well im glad to see youre doing BJJ now brother.
Anyway, my advice to deal with wrestlers are to do one of two things.
Either put him on his back with a sweep. (If has NO BJJ experience, then look for easy sweeps. Kimura or scissor) He will likely give up a submission.
Or you can just work to bait him. That is very effective with those type of overpowering wrestler types.

Thanks War, Im also taking a fundamental boxing course for 2 months then after that taking the Advanced class where they teach Muay Thai.
What do u think of this, Im going to a BJJ only school and then a boxing, Kick boxing Gym to learn just thoes 2 Arts
I find theres alot of so called MMA gyms around but id rather learn 2 things 100% than 10 things at 10% make any sense.
BTW Where have you been?
-

I think if you want to fight, you need to learn everything.
Otherwise, stick with the BJJ.
Cas is a great guy to learn from. Not to mention certain affilations.
And ive been everywhere bro. Thailand, Back home in Brasil, Europe. I recently took 1st in my division in a rather large tourn in Europe.

Are you a black belt?
and right now i cant make the trip to sac so im training under this brown belt who goes to cassio's 3-4 times a week.
BTW is it a realistic goal to get Blue belt in 16months or less training 4-5 days a week?
Also, Not sure if i want to fight but i really enjoy striking and want to learn more of it but after a few months i might focus all my efforts on BJJ

Yeah im a BB bro...
Dont remember? lol
And yes, 16 months is very realistic. If not sooner.
PanAms will be at CalState Dominguez hills.
I will be there.

The tournament will take place on March 27th, 28th and 29th in California State University Dominguez Hills, Carson - California
There is no white belt division for Pan Ams.
But the week prior to this is the GrapplerQuest.
I think you could do the novice division there

id get whooped i've only been going for a month or so. but i might go down there anyways i have some buddys who are solid guys.
What do u think of Muay Thai??? i enjoy striking thats my main motivation to do it i was considering Muay Thai/Boxing 2 days and BJJ 4 days, Weights 4 days a week. wednesday is just Muay Thai no weights and Sundays i nuthing period, then take in 3000-3400kcals and i may be able to gain even

Like i said before, i was in Thailand and worked my Muay thai to death!
I can honestly say, its gotten better by leaps and bounds.
BJJ is still my bread and butter, but im glad im becoming more and more well rounded.

yeah i enjoy both so im going to learn both.
how often do you weight train and Martial Art train???
how much rest do you get? and do you feel like you could do more
-
02-11-2009, 09:18 PM #56
I train people 7 days a week. I train personally 5 days a week.
I weight lift generally 3 to 4 times a week after my martial art training. I do this for a living so i get like 10hours of sleep a day, not to mention plenty of therpy.
If i did anymore, id be way to spent.. lol

They dont allow wrestling shoes in competition bro.
Why would you train with them on, only to compete with them off?
Doesnt make sense to me... And ive been wrestling for almost 20years.

I wear them when my feet are messed up and i want to protect my feet, i feel they work better than ankle sleeves at doing that.
