Is Page Vs. Macheeta the next logical fight?
Shogun beat chuck, but that's not really saying much with Chucks performance of late. I'm a Shogun fan, and to be honest I'd hate to see him fight Macheeta and have to face another loss, would like to see him get some mid rank fights to get to what he was.
Rampage seems like he would have a shot, just from his power. Macheeta is going to land a lot of shots, but Page has a great chin and he only needs to get off one shot. Macheeta would be favored, but I think the only way to beat Cheeta is catching him with that one shot.
The problem I'd see with Page though, he'd get his legs kicked off. Rashad is really light on his feet, but Page keeps his feet planted like a boxer, to generate the power in his punches, and I think by the end of round 1 he'd be black and blue from his knee to his nuts.
I thought Forrest with his length was a good matchup against macheeta who seems to close distance so well, and retreat.
I see rampage as a bigger, stronger and more accurate version of Rashad, and would have a better chance at beating Macheeta because of that. But I also see him as a fighter with a tremendous weakness to leg kicks and never seems to do much to improve on defending them.

They just announced it this morning. Rampage gets first crack. 205 is shaping up as a hell of a division

Pages pride will cost him the fight. He wont try "bully" machida with his wrestling at all. Instead he will stand and get frustrated when machida wont go toe to toe with him and he will get picked apart.

^^I hate to say it but I kind of agree....hopefully Rampage will have a different attitude now tha the is with his new camp. Rampage is my second favorite fighter but I just feel like Machida is on a different level....kind of like Silva at 185.

I agree with everyone, Machita is favored in this fight.
I'd like to see someone take more body shots in him, low kicks like Forrest was using because his waist is a foot in front of his head with his stance.
I give Machita the edge, but I would not be terribly surprised if rampage caught him either.
3 things Page has going for him here:
1- His chin has been tested, and is probably one of the best. Machita's blows are not terribly devistating, he could not KO Tito, he probably won't be KO'ing Page.
2- He is paticent, so paticent, that it cost him the Forrest fight. Sitting back and countering allowed Forrest to push, and win off points. Page can't out point Machita, he has to be paticent, and catch him.
3- His blocking, and countering. Page has very fast powerful hands, and the most impressive boxing/blocking in MMA. IMO he is a better boxer than AA.

Machida will dominate rampage too ,just as easy ,4 ,round ko ,or it might get stopped by leg kicks ..I love rampage , but all he has in this fight ,is a punchers chance ....... machida might put together 15 staright wins unless he gets caught, and I felt this way before he knocked out rashad

I know anderson silva and machida are friends , but don't be suprised if danna trysa to set that up ,cause no one at 185 is beating as ,and no one at 205 is beating machia ...I thinks he has a better chance at beating machida then rampage

Punchers chance? Rampage?
Tank Abbot has a punchers chance, Rampage has the most skilled hands in MMA.
I'd favor Machita like everyone else, but not by that much. Short of Machita, Rampage is the best fighter in the 205lb class. You could argue Shogun, but he has a lot to get back before you can rank him in the top 5 anymore.
When people come off impressive victories, like Machita just did, a fighter seems invincible.

seems invincible but all it takes is one loss and everyone will come out of the wood work saying karate is a joke etc. He is very tough no doubt but let's see him defend the belt a few times before we crown him king

I agree with you, but I said this before the victory, I think rampages style is tailor made for machida ,he comes straight at you ,and don't even check kicks ,and I also believe that rampage is the second best in the divison behind machida, and page definlitly has the best shot of defeating him cause of his one punch power ...but machida gets hit once every 2 rounds ,and there not clean shots ,so therefore it will be anothewr easy night for him

Page is a great a fighter. I picked him over liddell and forrest. However recently page has forgetten he can wrestle and that is problem. You have to confuse machida, standing there and is not going to confuse him, without that his timing, feints and accuracy are all going to be dead on. Machida will make page's boxing look bad.

I think rampage will kill machida. Atleast I hope he does. That has to be the coolest mother on the planet. I hope to see a slam k.o like back in the day.
Oh yeah and I forgot to say, rampage won the forest fight. i've watched it 3 times, and it still kills me that some people think forest did enough to take the belt.Last edited by xnotoriousx; 05-27-2009 at 05:23 PM.
