Anderson "Spider" Silva done in the UFC

Dana says giving him the fight this past weekend was a mistake and he won't let him have another one.



Silva's fighting style was always so precise, so millimeter close, it stood to reason that when he lost his edge he was going to start getting clobbered. A lot. He's lost seven of his last nine fights and was TKO'd in both of his two most recent bouts. I'd say that adds up to what you could call "a sign."

A lot of people thought that if Anderson Silva was not competing in the UFC anymore, that he may wind up in Bellator. However Scott Coker does not seem particularly interested in signing him to the promotion. Speaking in a recent interview, he did not completely shut down the idea, but explained that while he respects Silva, he is not going out of his way to try acquiring the Brazilian.

I have a lot of respect for him. He’s definitely one of the greatest fighters in the history of mixed martial arts. I really haven’t thought about it, but I think I’m happy with the way our roster is heading and the fighters that we have now. I think that’s my statement on that.

Coker gave DADA5000 a shot (and his heart stopped -- TWICE -- after his fight against Kimbo Slice) but he won't give Spider a look? Ouch!

The UFC released the Spider from his contract. IIRC, he had one fight remaining in his contractual obligation, but no more.
