Bad to have foods with sugar pre workout?
I heard its bad if you eat foods high in sugar pre workout because it will cause you to crash in the middle of your workout and also because if you take in too much sugar pre workout you will weaken your insulin spike when you take in your PWO shake.
Is this true?

I read either here or at AM that it's good to split your PWO shake in half and take one immediately before training and one afterwards... someone did a study on it and there was 150% more blood flow to the muscle being worked then without a shake beforehand

Basically what I'm getting at is, I've been eating some turkey, green beans, cornbread, and sweet potatoes from Boston Market as a pre workout meal. Although this is a pro/carb meal, the cornbread and sweet potatoes are LOADED with sugar (between the two of them 39 g).
Would it be wise if I were to ditch the corn bread all together and replace the sweet potatoes with mashed potatoes or does it not make a difference?
Like I said in my first post, I heard its bad if you eat foods high in sugar pre workout because it will cause you to crash in the middle of your workout and also because if you take in too much sugar pre workout you will weaken your insulin spike when you take in your PWO shake.
What should I do?

I don't like lots of carbs or sugar before working out, no.
All that does is provide a crash for most, yes.

I always go pro/carb before workouts while bulking; I seem to get better workouts... Some people avoid carbs b/c it makes them drowsy. See what works for you. As for the sugars, they havn't really affected me. I usually eat a pretty decent amt of sugar now that I'm bulking up and I usually don't crash until about 90 mins after my PPWO meal, when I get too tired to function.

When I'm going really heavy I will have a carb drink around an hour before I work out and it seems to help alot.

ill do a carb meal about 1 to 2 hours before lifting (usually brown rice or oats) with my protein and it seems to work quite well. I am bulking however, so my carb intake is higher than when i am dieting down.

Lethargy, tiredness, lack of energy, blood sugar "crash".
Oats or something low GI as Bigs does is fine, yes. I was referring to those who use sugary drinks or have half of their dextrose/whey beforehand. Something I'll NEVER comprehend.
