Who here uses MILK in their Protein Shakes?
Hey guys! just had a little question. I was wondering how many of you use milk in your protein shakes... and if you do what kind of milk... of you do not use milk, why not?
I'm a 5'8'' 173 ectomorph with an extremely high metabolism..
I take 3 shakes a day with 2 scoops whey, 10oz milk, and 2 scoops ice cream. Am I a moron? or will this help me out?
Cheers!

Leave out the ice cream, Use skim milk. Eat more calories and don't rely on shakes for the bulk of your daily calorie consumption. Goodluck.

hey you coulda just said i was an idiot.. lol...
by the way i keep my cals between 3700-4200 a day....
i'm really tryin to bulk right now, so the milk and and ice cream was just a question if it would help bulk more or not.

i have always used 1% milk. and i've used ice cream. if your bulking....who cares. as long as your not replacing food meals with the shakes. the shakes should be pwo, before bed, and just in addition to your normal diet. if you have fast metabolism....eat away bro. the shakes arent going to hurt you, nor is the milk as long as youre not lactose intolerant. i'm not, and i consume almost a gallon per day (3/4 of a gallon anyway). gotta get the calories in for what your goal is. and shakes are a great supplement.

now we can work with that..
there are 2 schools of thought..
1. just eat more.. but eat clean
2. eat everything you want, cause you will be running a cutter later
I like 1 because there is less fat to lose.. and the body responds with more muscle.. but hey.. that's me..

I see, well its 2,600 cals per serving and yes it does have fat 46g of fat. However its in the form of MCT's which are treated more like carbs upon digestion. Since you are an extreme Ecto and have a really hard time gaining weight I'd say you can use this, drink it with Skim not regular. I'd drop the Ice Cream too, I know you have a hard time gaining but Ice Cream is shit and bad for you.

If you can digest milk well and it doesn't give you a lot of mucus in your sinuses, I don't see a problem with it. Many point out the sugar in milk, but milk has a glycemic index in the 30's, lower than most traditional bodybuilding carbs. Can anyone explain with a GI that low, how a few cups a day will make you fat?

Yes you still count them in your fat count but they are processed much like carbs because of their chain length. Hence MCT (Medium Chained Triglyceride). Virgin Coconut Oil is a good souce about 50% MCT's, 100% MCT Oil is also sold.

too much sugar...and when i have dairy i notice i hang on to belly fat. dont know why though.
-

The sugar is fine if you are using it as a Pro/Carb meal. It may make you bloat a bit but any correlation to belly fat would be from excess cals.

You could always try a bit of digestive enzymes like Lactaid, this probably would stop the bloat. Most people bloat from milk because they have a slight case of Lacrose intolerance. Lactose is a tough sugar to digest, so many are intolerant.
