My GNC Experience
Hello All.
Just thought i could share something with you all.
I'm here in florida right now, on vacation, and i figured i could get some supps here possibly cheaper because the tax is lower than at home.
No problem, right. So i go over to GNC and ask the guy if they have any dextrose. He says "what the hell do you need dextrose for". So i say "post workout shake, double the amount of protein in carbs". He says "what are you talking about, where do you get your info?". So we argue for about 10 minutes, and he says "I'm in the business buddy, i know what i'm talking about". Meanwhile, he's this (probably) 250 pound fat guy with an ugly mustache.
So we continue to argue, and he explains how you should be taking a protein shake 30 minutes after you workout (and no sooner). He then goes on to explain how i don't need carbs for post workout, but instead, i should be digesting some fats with my protein.
This blows my mind.
Just want to see what you guys think about this. Also, where the hell can i get Dextrose? I need it asap!
Thanks guys!
Bryan

GNC is total garbabe and overpriced items.. and most of the time the employees are retarted out of shape people.. find a local supplement store privately owned or order your supps online..

yeah i think up until the early 90's they would try to hire people with some experience in fitness or something close, now they will take anything crawling off the street. i bought a shaker from them the other day and the stupid thing doesnt even close right and it leaks, already had one disaster all over my kitchen! anyway dude, try www.trueprotein.com they got everything u need.

dude what are you talking about, I work at GNC yes its shit. You hvae to remember though that we get paid on a commision base. So if somone in expierenced kid comes in Im gonna try and sell him muscle-tech shit products because they pay me 7 bucks a pop on some of thier products. Thier products are one of the highest commision lines in GNC. I dont know where you are a manager at but at a corporate GNC you get training in all fields equally id say a little more in the womens product department. But yes, GNC is hurting and I dont think they will be around much longer. When the older people die off and the newer people start trusting the internet more to order thier supps.

all GNC needs to do is lower their prices...I would MUCH rather go to their store than order online...but for the price...I refuse...

I ****ing get so irritated with GNC employees I never go there anymore. They are full of ignorance.
I shop at Vitamin World here, it's easier - plus I know one of the guys who works there, and he listens to what I have to say; never argues, and he knows his shit just about as well as I do.
I remember last time I went to GNC with a couple friends to get whey and a few other things I snapped at the fat guy that was harassing us. He shut up after I snapped at him. I just can't stand the tension they bring to the table when you are trying to pick out supps or vitamins.
Eh. I could go on forever.

Yeah aside from that, when you decide what you want, they tell you why you don't need that and try to sell you something else.
They're pigheaded pieces of shit. They are all fat too btw, you think someone who really knows what they're talkign about, and is in the business of bodybuilding would be fat?
Hmm

LEARN BY THIS PRINCIPLE ... !
Just know what your looking for . Read up on it beforehand. You shouldnt have to ask anyone what to take when you go shopping for it at any store ... then you won't have to ask some freakin moron what to take...
IMO if they were adept in the field they wouldnt be there makin minimum...

I ****ing hate GNC and the neandrothols that run their stores as well. First beef with GNC would be **** me in the ass prices. Next beef w/ GNC, fat asses working there who dont know shit from rice krispies and try to read the back of the package to people to make them sound like they know their shit. And last beef w/ GNC, this one makes me wanna snap sometimes. You get to the checkout, and get ready to pay for your shit, then everytime the magic question is asked. "Are you taking a good multi-vitamin?" God damnit, I ****ing compete, of course I'm taking a good multi-vitamin!!! I take a whole hell of alot of vitamins jackass!!! And no, they arent your megamans cocksucker brand either, so **** off!!!!

See if it is a corporate GNC. Each employee has goals. At the GNC I work at I have to move about 10% of all my customers a Gold Card Daily. and 13% a multi-vitamin. Each Gold card sold I get 1.75 and 1.00 from every multi. This being is because GNC makes thier most money off a thier multis. When we sell multi's were basically making our paycheck. It sure as hell is a bitch trying to get somone to take a multi. I work at GNC because noone comes in and I can sleep in the back room and second off I get free supplements. The only people I ask that to is chicks, old people and fat asses. Besides that I dont ask the Multi question. Plus GNC prices wont be getting any lower. They have to much overhead. Our store already for the new year is -1400.00 because of low sells. They rather keep on trying to get the newbie to purchase an 80.00 jug of cell-tech.

Thats the problem with GNC, all they do is advertise to those newbie's for a one time sale, they dont think of a long run for people to come back...
except in my store which is franchised, we dont even carry muscletech and we carry all good brands
