It's not so much the brand name that matters but the kind of oats...The best kind is steel cut oats, also known as irish oats. These look different than your regular oats by quaker. If you can't get that, the next best thing is regular, large flake Old Fashioned oats.

You're making me smile. It shouldn't be this hard. lol
Oatmeal is oatmeal. I know some people prefer Old Fashioned over quick (I am one of them), but as long as it's plain oatmeal...you're good to go.

But if your interested in getting your hands on steel-oats you might look for them at your local health food store. They taste really bland and I have only used them in the past as an ingredient in makeing another dish.

while oatmeal may be oatmeal, there is still a diference, the steel cut or Old fashioned oats are lower on the GI which causes less of an insulin spike- which is why I'm sure w8lifter recomended those specific kind of oats. Take her advice and get yourself some steelcut oats (you can find them in Trader Joe's- or most health food stores), or if you cannot find those then buy some Old Fashioned Oats.
