Say what? Why would anyone substitute applesauce for an oil (I am thinking a healthy fat??)
Unless this is some kind of recipe question, in which the diet forum is not the place for this.

i actually had a teacher who was a nutrionist. Instead of using vegetable oils in her cakes she would use plain applesauce. I guess no-one has heard of it. I am going to try and contact her and post up the recipe. also is there any way we can get this baby moved to recipes.

Yeah I've seen this too. People use applesauce as a replacement for like butter to make healthy baked good. However I have no clue as to the ratio's.

Using applesauce instead of oil-
In most baked goods, you can substitute applesauce (or fruit puree) in place of up to half of the oil in order to reduce the fat content. For example, if the recipe calls for 1/2 cup of oil, use 1/4 cup oil and 1/4 cup applesauce.
