Oats Only For Carbs?
Will using oats with water for all my carb meals be ok whilst cutting? Or do i need to change my carb sources. (I use dext. pwo.)
Are there any extra benefits to eating oats only for carbs whilst dieting? (drawing excess water form surrounding tissues etc???)
On low carb days i eat 200g oats (50g x 4)
On high carb days i eat 300-400g.

I eat oats 1/2cup per day and I'm 6wks out.. I see no problem with it and I'm still dropping BF.. it's more about your total macros/calories and quality of foods I've noticed. Oats has pretty low GI so I use it.

what has the lowest gi? i take in a lot of psyllium husk fiber(metamucil) im guessing the gi on that is quite low cause for 3 every 5 grams of carbs 3 are fiber

I know alot of guys use em in their prep. I was just told not to, that they were a luxury and not one to be indulged in if i wanted to get ripped to the bone.
I did question it but it was a discussion late at night and not a suitable location. All i know is i was told not to take them. No far be it from me to ever follow a piece of advice blindly but i figured i would experiment and see if it made any difference. Well im certianly in better condition then last year. Is i due to cutting out oats? No idea.

Yams:
1. peel, dice in cubes + boil for 20minutes (great plain)
2. Poke holes + Microwave for 6-8minutes (dry, needs artificial butter or something IMO).
3. Bake in oven with foil.. also good.

Oats and whey works great.. as well as chicken + rice. Tons of choices.
edit: ditto to prime.. amino's immediately following workout w/meal 15min later.Last edited by IBdmfkr; 07-13-2006 at 05:51 PM.

then i drive home and have brown rice, turkey and veggies.
I have experienced no downsides to not consuming a pwo shake.

Aside from dextrose pwo, I get the majority of carbs from oatsl. Love em.

Oats are like most other slowly digesting carbs, if that is what you are loking for then go for it. There are other sources of which I am sure you are aware of, so is not going tomake a big difference whether you have them or a similar carb
