    Beer/alcohol calories + bulking??

    Hey bros,
    I know this might sound stupid, but Im on week 8 of an anavar /test e cycle and in the two weeks since I finished the var I've gona out drinking a few times. I notice that I seem to gain a lb or two after a night out. I don't think it's water retention, b/c alcohol tends to dehydrate rather than hydrate. Since I know beer calories can turn into fat, I'm wondering if can they also be used to build muscle?

    Dont drink on cycle. It's just waste. Both drinking on cycle or off. Just be careful if you drink.. I can't change that.. But.

    No, you can't use the callories from beer to add muscle. It's like callories from junk food or candy, it's no good.

    Yeah,
    I've been reading that alcohol os canverted to acetate in the bloodstream, which is used for fuel and reduces the body's ability to burn fat. Even worse, alcohol consumed after excercise raises cortisol levels (catabolic = bad) and lowers testosterone levels . Glad I haven't been drinking the whole time..

    Actually I would be VERY interested to know some scientific data backing up the fact that alcohol calories can work just the same as food. When I go to bars, I always see these huge Irish dudes drinking pitch after pitch like water...sure they have a big stomach, but their arms and chest are HUGE.
    Yeah sure it does sound crazy, but for bulking purposes, at least some of those calories in alcohol has got to go into building muscles.
    A 40oz of malt liquor generally has 700 calories...now that is bulking material lol...a triple whopper with bacon added, king size meal complimented by the beverage choice of a 40 oz malt liquor= 6,000 calories in one meal!

    well, i hope your "var" isnt an oral liquid or ur putting the liver under a little stress.... i typically dont drink on AAS because i feel it fu*ks your gains, just my thought...

    Drinking when on orals makes you feel like shit that night and the morning after. I did once over a 4 month oral course. So I control my drinking habits well I feel.

    there is a bodybuilder at my gym, robin stevenson adams, hes going up against jay cutlers title next year after the arnold, n he told me once, a good nite of drinkin is actually good for u, not recommended...but good for a "swoll" sense.

    i wouldn't recommend consuming alcohol, especially when on a cycle... just too much stress on your liver.

    also, i do not believe that beer will dehydrate you. alcohol will dehydrate you, but beer has so little alcohol to water volume (only 5%) that you can gain water weight while drinking beer.

    in the end you just have to realize that you are the result of your decisions. do you want to build you body as much as possible or go out and have a little fun? there's no wrong answer and what you honestly want to do is up to you, but I don't think you can do both.

    i think a good heffenwizen with a couple of meals or 2-3 dark stouts over the course of the night is a great idea, its good for U and it adds some well needed relaxation, calories, & Lowering of blood presure.

    It has benafits but is not a magic source of gettting huge!

    Im not big on drinking but a few guys I know drink heavily during summer when they aren't in college training and it's safe to say they aren't getting any smaller. None of them use steriods either.

    i couldn't deal with continuously responding to all those who can't keep themselves away from alcohol as this subject is asked about more than any other in these forums. it's really quite sad that so many people are so dependent on alcohol they'll look for any reasoning to justify it's consumption. anyway, this thread here finally inspired me to make my own thread listing all the negative effects of alcohol once and for all. here you go:

    I went to a Martini bar last week and had a blast. I had some pomegranate juice mixed with some corbonated water. It eased my desire to splurge on a drink and when it was all said and done; I had a much better time watching all my pals make complete drunking asses of tehmselves while I actually got to be the cool sober driver. Didnt miss it at all.
    Bottom line - If you really crave, substitute....your workouts will thank you and so will the results.

    i drink hard about one night a week and make gains fine. would i make better gains in the long run without drinking? probably, but i dont worry about it too much. people are here for different reasons and mine is to look good at the pool...while im drinkin beer! i usually dont have a cheat day so when i go to the bar thats my big cheat meal. i dont think drinking is as bad on your gains as a lot of people say unless its all the time.

    its funny how when i was in college the term 'natty' meant natural light and now when i hear it i think of natural pb.

    Thats histarical. I've got a similar mind-set. I don't compete or do AAS, I just want to look good/be healthy. I figure I'll indulge while I can, then when I graduate, it's business. I've experienced great gains as well, even with the one night a week of drinkin. I've gone months without drinkin and honestly didn't notice a difference at all. Not that I think people should go out and get tanked, I don't think a night here and there will destroy peoples gains. Cheers!

    I would stay away from the beer on cycle especialy with the var, but if you gotta drink stick with that good ole Kentucky burbon, i hear its good for the liver!

    i cant drink when im dieting cause ill end up drinking like 15 beers and half a bottle of liquor and feel like crap for 2 days. so i just stay away from it.

    For me if your investing in your body as much as you do with taking AAS, then you owe it to your self to follow a strickt regiem, one of wich is not drinking. Maybe im crazy but thats just me.

    I gave up drinking last summer. I dont drink while cutting or bulking and certainly not on AAS.

    if it slows, impedes, or stops protein synthesis whats the point tho? its almost like cheating for 2 to 3 days.

    smoke weed or do something else to unwind.
