Lot's of questions all at once

I'll first say that I have spent a fair bit of time searching for these answers before posting.

When I read sample diets I see a lot of people eat half a cup of oats, is this a half cup dry and unprepared or is it half cup cooked in water? I've been measuring out half a cup dry then cooking them, have I been eating too much? The nutrition facts on the bag does not specify.

I'm on a cutting diet and I've cut out milk completely except for in my PWO shake, should I remove the milk from this too or is the sugar ok post workout?

Sample diets suggest approx 80g of dextrose in a PWO shake, according to my calculations this is about 110ml or 1/4 cup of dextrose. Am I correct or am I puttin in way too much?

Sorry for so many questions but I appreciate any insight.

No, measuring the oats dry is correct...you have been eating the correct amount.

What exactly is in your PWO shake? How much milk are you using in the shake?

I don't know about the dextrose...I use 2 scoops of whey and 1 cup oats for my PWO...works great!

    Hope this helped a bit!

For the PWO shake, if it can be mixed with water, its better for you since you are cutting. It adds calories that just are not needed and can raise your insulin levels, which can lead to you storing fat. Most of the experienced people will say cut the shake and get real food. Which really is better. I use a shake, but its due to time constraints. Good luck with the diet.

FROM MY EXPERIENCE, ON THIS BOARD, UNLESS SPECIFIED, ALL FOOD QUANTITIES ARE STATED PRE-COOKED/OFF-THE-SHELF..IN YOUR CASE, OATS..SO DRY WEIGHT, IF CHICKEN, THEN "RAW" WEIGHT, ETC...

I'm on a cutting diet and I've cut out milk completely except for in my PWO shake, should I remove the milk from this too or is the sugar ok post workout? IMO, MILK IS A NO-NO DURING CUTTING, ESPECIALLY FOR PWO SHAKE...THE LACTOSE IS LOW GI AND THE CASEIN CONGEALS WITH THE WHEY PROTEIN, SLOWING DOWN ABSORPTION AS A WHOLE...YOU NEED SUGARS PWO, BUT NOT FROM THE MILK....AND CASEIN SHOULD BE USED FOR BEFORE-BED SHAKES, AND THAT TOO, AS A SPECIALIZED PROTEIN POWDER BLEND, NOT FROM THE MILK...AS FOR SUGAR PWO...IT IS VERY IMPORTANT, BUT IN THE FORM OF GLUCOSE/DEXTROSE TO REPLENISH MUSCLE STORES

NOT SURE, BUT THAT SOUNDS ABOUT RIGHT..A GOOD INVESTMENT ARE THOSE ELECTRONIC KITCHEN SCALES..SAVES YOU TONS OF GUESSWORK... AS FOR 80G, DEPENDS ON YOUR STATS, BUT IT SEEMS HIGH-ISH FOR CUTTING

Sorry for so many questions but I appreciate any insight.

Like the others said measurements should always be taken before cooked.

It doesnt matter that lactose is a sugar. Sugar is basicly most carbs except polysaccharides(starch), so just because something is a sugar doesnt mean it have to be bad.
If you need the amount of carbs you get from the milk in the pwo shake there is no reason to ditch the milk unless you are lactose intolerant. Diary calcium boost fatloss a bit anyway.
