I would only eat it if in a real bind. They are loaded with sugar and many with saturated fat. Better to grab some tuna or if in a real hurry package some beef jerkey although it is high is sodium.

I gotta be honest. I dont use protein shakes or bars...BUT I will admit I still have both in my house, and hey sometimes you gotta have it, life isnt always gonna give you what you want.
For example I went out of town and packed all my meals and EXTRA incase...well it toke 2.5 times as long to get home as it did to get there because of hellish traffic. In those binds a protein bar is better than nothing.
But again, I would never suggest you include it as a meal same as I dont with shakes. But if it has to happen well its better than not eating and better than McDonalds.

i have a stock pile in my trunk. i work out of my house most of the time so i can make good meals when need be. on my routine now though i have 3 shakes a day with an efa. most of hte food i make i prepare in bulk so i have lots of good solid foods prepared to last a couple few days. i don't mind protein bars though...had to move fast today and din't have time to prepare and pack so ate a few protein bars.

Ya, protein bars every once in a while (when your in a big hurry etc.) are fine, I just heard the quality of the protein isn't up to par.

bars have lots of sugar alcohols and also the protein in it isnt even that good... they tested Pure Protein bars and out of the 30 grams or whatever it had in it, it had no whey at all, 15 or so grams of some good protein and the rest was COLLAGEN protein!!

imo a protein bar is like a snickers with some protein added. Tastes good but its all junk. A shake is much better than a protein bar.

If you want a protein bar make your own. Saves alot of $. I found a very good recipe the other day and includes NO shit, just oats, oat flour, splenda, whey protein powder, chopped almonds/flax seeds, non-fat powdered milk, water and dried blueberries/raspberries.
