    food weight

When we talk about oz of protein sources, are we talking about oz before cooking or after cooking?
I always weight my meats and poultry before cooking, lets say 8-10oz, after cooking it i weight it again and it is 6 or 4oz. Should I consider the oz before or after cooking?

Depends on what reference you're going by. Calorieking has different nutritional fact for cook vs raw. Typically, if reading of the back of a chicken breast bag or ground beef, the nutrition facts will be for raw.

Yes i get that I'm not considering calories, lets say I want 40g of protein from chicken. Do I need to weight more raw chicken to get enu oz of cooked chicken so I can get 40g of protein?

raw weight is more accurate because ppl cook to different extents.. some ppl burn it and others barely get the pink out etc.. weigh your meats raw and punch it in fitday.com or calorieking.com, very simple. I believe 40g protein from raw chicken is around 7oz. 5oz cooked in most cases.
