    oatmeal alternative

Alright, guys. I like my oatmeal. Haven't always, but I adapted and now I like it. My brother, on the other hand, HATES it. Is there anything else (cereal-wise) that he can eat besides oats? I was looking through the cereal aisle at the store, and the best I could come up with is Total. I just don't know how detrimental the sugar would be?

    Any thoughts?

Yoghurt and some berries throw into it.

Oatmeal is nasty. Its ok with some honey on it though.

He could probably find some high fiber, low gi unsweetened cereal if he tried. I dont know anyone to recomend though.

Agreed. Yoghurt rules. It tastes a lot better than oatmeal. I eat yoghurt, special K cerials and eggwhites for breakfast.
I think that oatmeal taste better if you add cinnamon and wheyprotein with chocolate flavour or add some unsweetened yams.

Does it have to be cereal? I like sweet potatoes as my carb source, I just cant pull it off while at school. Our microwave takes about 40 minutes to cook them..

No, it doesn´t have to be cereal. I just have it for breakfast with yoghurt because it taste good and it´s healthy. I don´t want to eat potatoes for my breakfast.

Good carb sources are good carb sources. First thing to do is get out of the idea that certain foods are for breakfast or dinner... other than oatmeal try cream of wheat or malt o meal...

Grape nuts, but it would taste nasty in water, ok with milk if you can afford the sugar.

I personally stick with faster absorbing carb sources for my first meal.
    Ex.
Oats, potatoes, white rice, certain fruits, cream of wheat, cream of rice etc..

Ex of what I'd not use for my first meal.
Yams, grits, banana, w/w pastas etc..

These are great carb sources for mid day or latter in the day IMO.
