    Neglecting Carbs??

    Was this just fiber carbs?
    Or all vegtable carbs?

So, all carbs, even fiber, from fruits and oatmeal can count as calories?

    bump.

If I rmemeber right, all fiber carbs are neglected, even from oatmeal and fruits, along with veggies. As in fiber carbs dont count towards your calorie count.

I just need someone to clarify this please.

    Thanks.

Fiber can not be broken down by the body and absorbed so it has no dietary caloric value.

Just to clarify, are you saying if I eat a piece of whole wheat bread with 18g of carbs and 5 grams of fiber only 13g are being digested and therefore used?

I dont think that fiber is included into the caloric count of the food labels, but I dont know for sure.

    It usually is.

I believe some coutries are making the exclusion of recent (Europe namely).

Overall, it's still erroneously included in the total carb count..and calorie count

Thanks I never really thought of it until the question was possed today. I know that they had in th US changed up the food labeling a little bit but I never really took the time to see what the changes were since I dont deal with nutrition issues in my line of work very often.

I guess I have to revamp my entire diet. I think I take in about 60g of fiber a day.
