Eating a banana PWO while cutting
Would this be in any way detrimental to my diet? Would it be beneficial? Or would it make much of a difference? I have searched around and havent found much.
PWO nutrition:
1 scoop whey
1/4 cup egg whites
1/2 cup oats
1 medium banana
5g bcaas

if you gain any fat... it won't be because of your PWO offering. look elsewhere in your diet for problems. that looks like a decent PWO.

This is where i see a potential problem. Aren't oats slow burning complex carbs? You need a fast acting simple carb such as gatorade, rice cakes, dextrose, or maltodextrin.
Does anyone else see this??
Try to get the 2:1 carb to protein ratioLast edited by H20Crazy; 03-07-2007 at 07:11 PM.

High GI carbs PWO is a myth which has been debunked in a number of past threads...Johan and Giantz have posted a variety of studies...it really boils down to personal preference.

why would you have simple carbs when you can have good quality carbs?
and to be honest i believe carbs is carbs.

Here is the problem that i see:
After an intense workout, your body is in a hypoglycemic stage. Your blood-sugar and insulin level are at an all-time low. You need a combination of simple carbs and whey protein to boost your insulin levels.
Why? Super fast absorption rate. You need to get glucose into your bloodstream and muscles asap. Remember...your body is being brutally beaten around during your workout. At this point, your body is like a sponge. It will soak up everything you give it. So why not provide it with some good shit?
finish PWO shake within 1 hour post-workout. Sip on second half of shake slowly. 30 minutes after completing shake, eat a well balanced meal. Tah-dah!!
Anyways, that's my take on it. That's what i've been doing for a while now, and i've seen tremendous results.

yeah..im trying out the oats in place of dex..there has been a lot of debate about it, giantz seems to know his shit pretty well from what i have gathered so i opted for oats
and, with the banana, i get a little bit of sugar as well..

I know quite a few guys who compete who live by using oats in their PWO shake. And by looking at them I have a hard time seeing how oats could be detrimental to the metabolism after a workout...

hey H20 I agree with you,
However ive been trying three differnt things
Hi GI with pro
Low GI with pro
No carbs with pro
all followed with a meal about 1-2hrs latter and I think the whole spikeing insulin thing only works if your using slin. I dont know if you can really make a big diff naturaly.
but if you like it keep on doing it.
