my protein shake smells fvcking rotten

WTF. I wash my protein shaker everyday after i use it, but it has this really weird rotten bad smell in it afterwards.

Also, today i went to take a shit and i swear my farts smelled like the smell in my shaker. it was really gross.

I am thinking the bacteria thrives on little remnant of my protein shake. and then i inadvertantly drink little remnants of the bacteria. and now they are setting up a colony in my colon.

i think i should probably go to the emergency room. right?

how do you guys get rid of that STANK in your shakers?

LMFAO.. ive left my shaker in my car before with the sweltering heat we have here in miami.. got in my car the next day and WOW!! now that was bad!

trick is to rinse the shaker out immediately after you drink it.

i have rinsed out a shaker every time i used it w/ hot water and soap.. after 2 months.. it still smells like a polarbears belly button ><

if you take a more intense cleaner (if something like standard dish washing soap doesn't work)... go to any grocery store or what have you...look for COMET....it's a bleach product... i have left mine with little remains for days before...this should work for you

never smelled a polarbears belly button before so dunno lol... im no saying it completely takes the odor away but it makes a huge difference between letting it sit in the sink all day and rinsing it out immediately..

i just washed my shaker with hot water and detergent, and then put it in the microwave for 10 minutes. it's not done yet. i will let you know if it fixes the smell. or blows up.

Did it melt?... and why use the microwave....prob just gonna make your house smell like crap....or at least your mic...well good luck....but as i said before, use COMET in the future or whatever you find works...

UPDATE: It didnt melt, and i think the microwave killed all the germs, becsasue it doesnt stink anymore. yay

I remember once I left my shaker with a bit of that shake in it, in my car for like a week, i forgot about it. Man I swear when I opened it, I thought I;ll pass out. I didn't even bother with washing it. Went straight to the garbage.

Did You guys ever try to put a protein powder into a hot water, all into your shaker and shake it? then open it? It freaking explodes, every single time, the top of the shaker just shoots off and You hear loud pop.

Freaking gun powder or what!

i use water in my shakes and they still smell like ass. i spray clorox(spell) cleanup in mine then add a liitle water and shake them up, then let them sit for a little bit. later come back clean and dry them good. usally get rid of smell or at least helps alot.

sh*t bro, when it gets humid down here(canada) and i leave the shaker in my car more then a few hours, a replacment is needed, ive gone through like 3 shakers in a week last summer, for failing to learn the first time around

I agree with this... $2 bucks for comet or $2 bucks for a new shaker... I wash mine right away or put in water afterwards...never had a problem like this..btw, i have a whole cabinet full of these no need to be drinking out of something that smells bad...if my socks start to stink that means time for some new ones before it infects my shoes and I toss out the old ones....there is a reason for everything. including stinky shakers. lol

UPDATE:
I used one of those electrasol diskwasher tablets and put it in the bottom of the shaker and filled it with HOT water and then shook the hell out of it.

The smell seems to be gone.

On another note, after i went to spin class some day two weeks ago, i put my shirt and shorts in a plastic bag at the gym and then tossed them in my gym bag. I guess on the way home they somehow rolled out of my gym bag under the seat in my car.

The problem was that I went on a trip for about a week and left my car parked at the airport in the sun. You wold think that all the heat would dry the clothes, but since they were in plastic bag it really just incubated them.

So when I got in my car after the trip it smelled like a NYC cabbie mixed with a sour washcloth mixed with cat pee mixed with mexican food. it was really gross.
