Too much whey, need more real food.

Why take whey (a fast digesting protein) at bedtime. Take 2 scoops of casein rather than 1 of each. And yes you will need a little more food. Try to ad some beef and eggs, something to give you more variety. A couple weeks of that and you'll want to puke if you even hear the word "chicken".
Other then digestion times, which may have relevance in some situations. I really don't get all this "real food" stuff that gets thrown about. Then a bunch of other people parrot it and it just spreads. It's all liquid when it enters your small intestine and begins being absorbed. You could make a liquid containing the right amount of proteins, carbs and fats, changing the ratios to suit what you need at different times and feed it directly into your small intestine and get the same effect. You could have the right amount of glucose, lipids and amino acids given at the right time through an IV and get the same effect.
It's not like your body is going to go "eeew this amino acid came from a whey shake, I'm not using that, I'm throwing that right in the colon!" "Hey this one came from a chicken breast, it is good building material!"
So If I took a piece of beef and had everything separated out into powder, then mixed them back, added water and some flavoring to make it into a shake, it would be no different then if I ate that piece of beef without doing that. It will get into my small intestine faster, but the proteins will break down at the same speed.
In fact there are reasons to have shakes. They are convenience and being able to get more food in your stomach.Last edited by sonnygll; 10-17-2007 at 02:30 AM.

Alright thanks for the info. So ill only have 1 scoop of whey after the gym with some oats. Then 2 scoops of casein before bed. Is that good or should I only have 1 scoop before bed?
I will add some eggs into meal 1 then add some beef with my meal 2 at 9am instead of chicken.
