Why is old fashioned oats better than Instant Regular?
Most people believe that old fashioned oats are a better option than Instant oatmeal... even the regular. I'm not talking about the fruit flavored ones loaeded with sugar.. the regular has 0g sugar and 7 different vitamins.. while the old fashioned oats have almost no vitamins whatsoever.

Instant or "quick" oats does not have more sugar. Its just normal oats that are cut up more or smaller. Its not better or worse, but it breaks down easier by your digestive track. I grind up my oats and drink so and Ive noticed ZERO difference.

I Love oatmeal! Mama's tastes the best! BUT.... Elite Oats has 240-270 Calories and 34-36g of protein, depending on the flavor, sweetened with splenda. I am looking at the 270/36 "Brown Sugar Cinnamon" right now.

I always put sugar-free maple syrup in mine. It is pretty good.

I just add a couple cups to my protien shake ed myself. I got sick of cooking it. waste of time imo also makes an unessasary mess to have to clean not to mention it blows up like 3 times its size. sometimes I just eat it uncooked and was it down with water. old fasioned it the way to go for me

Instant oats have a higher GI. And not to say this is true for oats but you alwys have to be careful when you look at sugar content. For an example
Dextrose: GI=100
Maltodextrin: GI = 100
Both are equal when it comes to blood glucose inpact (insulin response).
Now when looking at sugar listings.
30g dextrose = 30g sugar
30g Malto = 0g sugar
So dont go based primarilly on the listing of sugar. Take a look at the ingredients as well. If you see maltodextrin in there its just as bad as sugar but because it isnt a single glucose polymer like dextrose and is actually a polysaccharide it is not listed as sugar.
