What is the fastest safe weightloss diet?
I am a long time member, but have largely been inactive over the last few years.
My stats: 5'9 225lbs. I have no idea what my bodyfat percentage is now but I when I was 175lbs I was at 8% body fat. As you can see I have about 50lbs I need to lose.
Because of my job I can only do cardio about 2-3 times a week.
I am not trying to look like a pro bodybuilder, just lean up, because my health is starting to fall apart. I experience alot of joint pain: shoulder problems, foot, ankle, wrists, even fingers.
Ive always had problems with my weight. If Im not constantly in the gym, my weight balloons up. I recently lost 15lbs by changing the types of food I have been eating. I changed all my breads, pasta, grains to whole wheat types. I started focusing on lean meats like chicken, fish, and 98% fat free ham.
My weightloss has stalled at this point so I need some diet help. I am not a good calorie counter. So I would rather avoid diets that require me to break down macros by percentage and count every calorie. Honestly I would like meal by meal instructions as to what to eat, but also where the meals and snacks can be interchangeable (i.e. I can switch snack #2 on day 3 with snack #3 on day 1 without screwing the whole day up.)
So heres my question: Can anyone recommend a good diet (preferably a commercial diet in which I can buy the book) thats EASY to follow. I have to emphasize the easy part because my job takes up so much of my time.
Anything constructive would help.

any simple cutting diet regiment will suffice..
just plan out a proper diet that creates a calorie deficite and keep your macros equivalent in each meal.
its not hard and its not a seceret.. the lower the cals the more weight you lose.
(though the greater the deficite the higher the chance of loosing lbm to metabolic means)

Planning a diet hasnt been one of my strong suits...honestly I generally find myself to be quite lost when it comes to doing it. I think maybe a cookbook that just allows me to have 5 meals that lets me interchange what I am eating might be the ticket, but I dont know any good ones. If anyone has a recommendations, I would appreciate it.
Ill check out the Zone diet. If anyone has any experience with the diets they are recommending Id appreciate the feedback.

then learn to read, as ignorance will only make dieting more difficult.
you have to understand how foods are utilized in the body and which foods to eat and when to eat.
if your just wishing to be spoon fed a fellproof diet.. your success and goals are going to stay in the distance.

I dont think my asking for any recommendations on reading materials warrants the snide remark.
As far as learning about how the body processes food, I assume it would be in the book that someone recommends.
My current knowledge of diets is not strong. That I will freely admit. However I dont think that asking for books geared toward the step by step process is off limits.

but there are AMPLE articles on dieting and proper nutrition intake all over the boards.
most books use sells gimmicks and the quality info is found on fitness forums that dont charge you...

I just got back into the swing of things as well and i have not counted macros but I have a good idea on what they are now. For the most part I consistanly eat clean and get good results, just keep an eye on your portions.
Breakfast:
oats+blue berries+eggs
eggs+salsa+wheat tortilla
eggs+wheat breat/toast
mix nuts with raisins (prepackaged if am a hurry)
MRP shake
snack (nuts or fruit)
Meals: (lunch/dinner)
(meats: chicken breast,salmon,tilapia,turkey,steak,lean beef)
chicken/salmon +stirfry mixed veggies
chicken/salmon +spinach+black beans
chicken/steak (fajitas) +wheat tortilla +salsa
chicken sandwich + wheat bread
lean ground beef + wheat tortilla +salsa
lean ground beef + wheat noddles + spaghetti sauce
ground beef+beans
I eat the same types of meals when i go out as well. Pretty much all restaurants have something similar. I usualy eat half the meal and carry half with me and eat it for another meal later.
No cokes,no chips, no fried or really greasy foods
so basicly I have:
breakfast
snack
meal
snack
pwo
mealLast edited by critter; 02-07-2008 at 03:17 PM.
