Truth behind Pro/Carb or Pro/Fat
Is there scientific truth behind the whole "You should only have meals that are high in proteins and carbs or protein and fats."?
Is it THAT bad to mix carbs and fat, even if they are of the good kinds?

I dont think its "Bad" per say to eat carbs and good fats in one sitting if your not dieting low carb or attempting to manipulate your body to consume more lipids but the consumption of carbs causes and insulin response and if you consume high amounts of fats with that insulin response you greatly increase the chance of fat storage...

it's a good energy source but here's a little physiology to help you understand, carbs are the bodies main energy source, they are easy to turn into energy so they are the first thing your body will use if it has them, fat are reserves, though since they are easier to break down than protein they will be used if no carbs are present
if you eat a meal with carbs and fats, then your body will use the carbs for energy and store the fats in reserve aka into fat cells, not what we want, though good fats have less chance of this than bad fats
hope that helps

I have often thought it was just a scheme to get us to not eat really horrible foods. Most unhealthy foods like donuts, pizza, ice cream, french fries, cakes and hot dogs are carb/fat combos.
If I was a trainer I would tell my clients to never eat carbs and fats together. Thus magically removing a big portion of junk food.

There was a post on here some time ago, an interview with some guys, I don't remember who that addressed this issue. I can't seem to find it but I will keep looking.
But basically they claimed that the whole separation of carbs and fats idea is not founded and is purely speculation.
I don't know if this is completely true, but I tend to believe that mixing carbs and fats in a meal isn't a big deal. Although you shouldn't go overboard. Too much fat and carbs would be bad in any meal. Protein should be the base of every meal for bodybuilders, so if you have a high/moderate amount of protein, carbs, and fats in one meal, that says to me you got a HIGH calorie meal, which isn't good.
Now if you total carbs, protein and fat for the day are split up evenly in each meal...your good to go. Except maybe the last meal of the day which shouldn't include carbs.
