    my friend is vegan..but....ugh..

so, my friend has been vegan for like 10 yrs.

he's always depressed, never looks good.... no energy...

i told him his diet sucks.
    it consists of:

    cereal with soy milk
    pasta with some canned sauce
    SOMETIMES a "veggie sausage"
    chips and cookies.

literally. he eats that every day.

anyone have a solid diet for a vegan?

he figures he gets a whopping 30g of protein tops a day......

and he wont not be a vegan. he's FULL vegan. not vegetarian

    any help appreciated!

The only help I can give is that he needs a lot of soy protein, and needs to find creative ways to get complete protein, ex.- black beans and brown rice together....Other than that, I got nothing for vegans. Same basic rules that apply to our diets, but no meat I guess....Protein isnt overly important. Tell him to aim for .75-1g per pound, see if he can do that. Lots of fruits and veggies for energy.

Have him get some ezekiel bread in there and some natural PB and jelly sandwhiches on whole grain breads with some good protien mixed with his soy milk. Syntha 6 would be a good choice for a blend.

Yeah, hes gonna have to get some shakes in there to make up the difference in protein. Is he vegetarian or vegan? Bc i know that vegans dont eat anything that comes from an animal (eggs, milk, etc)... at least I think thats right....damn hippies, lol! If he is straight vegan, have him look into hemp or gemma protein, both are vegan safe protein fromulas, that along with some soy protein.

While it's a diet I'd never choose, there are good vegan foods out ther. Your friends diet sucks mainly because he doesn't eat well, even for a vegan. No fruit, no protein, hardly any food! No hummus wraps? Tortilla spread with hummus, then filled like a burrito with black beans, chopped shallots, roasted peppers, you get the idea-- you can do a hundred variations on that theme, that's good vegan food!

    oatmeal/berries/soy milk
    wild rice/sweet potato/mushrooms/flax oil
    hummus wrap/ banana
tofu & veg green curry w/ coconut milk
Pasta with veg/flax oil/ soy milk

These are just a few things that popped into my mind.... it would need a ton of work, but it's already light years better than what he's eating. Supplement with vegan-safe rice milk hemp protein shakes or something too...

i just think he wouldn't be so depressed all the time if he fueled his body better.

when i ate like shit, i felt like shit.

even now, if im not on track......i can feel it
