i would say shoot for at least 40 grams of protein in each meal. carbs look a little low even for a clean bulk.

Maybe he knows you do not need to add bodyfat to add muscle? Or maybe he does not aspire to be a bodybuilder but just wants to add a little size.

Interesting, I've got a similar build (6'1", 175 lbs) and a very similar diet. About 6 meals a day. Eggs, oatmeal and grits in the morning, chicken on brown rice plus yogurt and / or peanut butter on wheat bread in the afternoons, supplemented with 2-3 small protein shakes per day.

One thing I've been adding in to my diet lately is tuna salad sandwiches as a protein source. I buy the canned tuna in olive oil, and mix it up with some boiled egg whites and a little relish. Also I'll throw together a grilled chicken salad on occasion. I'm trying to get more potatos into my diet, but rice is just easier to cook and eat.

at 5'11 165 i really dont think you are going to gain well at all with this diet. bulk means buik. i understand your concern about 'dirty bulking' and putting on fat. but let's be clear in the distinction between eating cheeseburgers and fries to bulk and eating a lot of clean food to bulk.

you will not get fat eating lots of skinless chicken, tuna and oatmeal, especially if you are training hard. your diet looks like more of a cutting diet to me. i would lose weight on that. if you ever want to see 185 or even 175 i would say eat more clean foods. a lot more.

    just my 2 cents...
