You want oils that convert to EPA/DHA. Those oils promote growth as it has been proven countless times. Lets not forget lyposis as well, let alone cardiovascular health
Walnut oil
Almond oil
Pecan oil
Macadamia nut oil
Olive oil
Fish oil is best as no conversion is needed.
avacado oil
To name a few
Flax oil is a
Poor choice as it doesn't make the conversion well at all.
that being said i use flax but saying its superior to Olive thats just not true

olive oil is good cause it greatly helps your cholesterol levels, and from what i learned in school coconut is one of the worse oils for u cause its ALL saturated fat. i use olive oil in my protien shakes, it pretty much has no taste.

coconut oil is a MCT so its used for energy and its boots metabolism which is good but it doesnt convert to a EFA/DHA so really theres much better choices for building muscle, cardiovascular health, etc. also that being said i use Organic Coconut oil from time to time adds an exotic flavor to many things.

Fats are needed even in a cutting diet. As long as it fits in your macros, it's one of the better fats out there

GREAT POST...It is SO NICE to see someone here with an understanding of nutrition.
"Extra Virgin Olive Oil - First Cold Press" is the one you need to look for.
That spray stuff is crap...why would you ever think synthetic is better than natural? Pure cream butter is better. Basic Nutrition 101...

I keep hearing fish oil or Flax seed oil.. I never heard of using olive oil in whey shakes... Would using good old fashion olive oil that i already have in my kitchen instead of buying fish or flax?

Since this thread seems to be buzzing I decided to input what I wrote on another board about olive olive. Just adding to the info already given...
Olive oil has a high content of monounsaturated fatty acids (which most of the fatty acids are actually an 0mega-9 oil) and high content of antioxidative substances (Vitamin E, F, K and beta-carotenes). Since olive oil is a monounsaturated fat it keeps the good(HDL) cholesterol levels high, while lowering bad (LDL)cholesterol levels which studies have shown to be helpful in the fight against heart disease. Most people do well with olive oil since it does not upset the critical 0mega-6 to 0mega-3 ratio.

damn i never knew olive oil was the shit
would you guys fry your eggs in the morning with olive oil ?

some guys supplement fat sources in their daily macro allowance.
That being said, they choose healthy fats (fish oil, olive oil...., as explained above) as their supplemented fat sources. you want the natural stuff. the natural stuff will have a higher fat count, but forget the adage that fat is bad... it is essential, and whether you get it from lean meats or a supplemented source. you need some.

nova what is your take on a situation like this.
lets say someone is getting a few weeks out from a show and the calories count.
A Pam fat free spary etc has less calories than the olive oil....
What do you pick?
is it okay sometimes to pick the less nuturious or less benefical one?
Now i am new and the olive oil might go towards certain grams of fat you need in the diet but speaking from the standpoint that i would pick the one because it has less calories (cutting situation)
In the bulking i would pick the olive as i am not so hard pressed for calories.

realistically, this situation would never occur for someone who is 2 weeks out from a show. they would have their diet planned very well.
since we're probably just hypotheticallying... i'd still take the olive oil. some olive oil will not make or break contest prep at 2 weeks. i still err on the high side of calories while cutting.

olive oil = life

I take 2 spoons olive oil first thing in the morning on empty stomach during the last 6 years. My grand father does this for the last 40 or so years of his life and he never had a health problem, plus he smokes and drinks like hell. Maybe Hercules knew the power of the olive tree thats why he brought it to Hellas from the "valley" of the north pole and they made it a sacred plant[thus the winner of the olympics instead of gold was given a branch of olive tree.
ps.Pure olive oil has a green colour rather than gold.

Yes, olive oil is great.
Fats don't make you fat, excessive calories do.
