Carb cycling help
So I'm starting a new diet and I'm trying to incorporate carb cycling into it.
My problem is that I need help finding foods that I can eat on my no carb days. I have done good so far today but I'm hungry and I can't figure out what to eat.Last edited by Diamonds08; 01-28-2009 at 09:09 PM.

I personally am not a fan at all of no carb days... I will never go below 150g carbs in day unless I'm doing keto... Meat and oils are pretty much all you can have if it truely is a no carb day, but I would suggest multiple servings of green veggies in each meal... I go through about 3 lbs. per day of broccoli when carb cycling....

all meals should consist of lean protein and fats with green leafy veggies on your no carb day. Lately I have been having 1 cup of oats with my first meal on my "no carb" (well, it's not a true no carb day this way) and then only trace amount of carbs the rest of the day (from veggies).
Lean protein sources: Fish, lean ground turkey, shrimp, canned tuna, eggs, chicken, etc.
Fats: Fish oil, olive oil, almonds, natural peanut butter, avocado's, etc.
On your no carb days have some broc or spinach with each meal.

what do you gain from doing no carb days?
-
^^^^couple of benefits ...if you go long enough to enter ketosis the body burns bodyfat for fuel ...also carb cycling like this creates a nautarl anabolic environment just from nutrition manipulation......also keeps h20 retention to a minimum....

l have a bottle of flax seed oil, and i take a tbsp of it with one of the following for a meal on no carb days:
1) chicken
2) protein shake
3) lean beef/buffalo
4)turkey
5)tuna
tuna w/mayo is nice too.

not in a day though, not even close. if you are consuiming carbs routinely (yes carb cycling is routinely) you shouldn't go no carb.
little more info is needed. you going no carb for over a week? if not then you do not need to be going no carb. i know u said this diet is new, and i'm sorry but you won't last long on it. gym time will suffer and cravings are going to be a bitch to deal with. can you provide me your stats too?

^^^ hm ...when i carb cycle i go low carb/ no carb/ and carb days .. i time certain workout days with certain food days - then cycle them (sounds complicated but easy after doing it from time to time over and over)....at any rate of course u need prob 48 hrs carbs under prob 50/day to enter ketosis (the lower - the quicker you'd eneter imo) - guess i dont "carb cycle" the textbook way ....have just found over the years what works for for me when i do it. I personally dont know about the whole "carb sensitive" info people spout but i do know for me ....it seems to hold some truth. The way i cycle keep me satisfied appetite wise , enetergetic , and helps keep bf in check.

^^^no - the carb cycling above is really something i do for about 6-8 weeks leading up to an aas cycle in most cases ....
btw - this is what i do (not saying its right for anyone else - works for me)
low/high/no/no/high/low/low (refering to carbs of course) then repeat etc....
i also rotate workout so as to be doing diff bodyparts over diif days throughout course of month (prob unnecessary - but i like it)
btw after 3 low carb days (sat, sun, mon) by the third am i am in a slight state of ketosis....
my macros prob dont fit the trad "low carb" description but as i said - i seem to need to be pretty carb concious.... anyway i use do this for 2 months pre cycle....Last edited by jimmyinkedup; 02-02-2009 at 08:10 AM.

^^^^this is how i get ready to go on a cycle ...my bodyfat drops a bit - thats not main purpose ...but it does.....
If bulking (on cycle) i go to a 40/40/20 (very close anyway) - calories obviously increased.....
If cutting (on cycle) i go straight keto in most cases..... with a carb load from fri pm till sat noon (basically 2 meals)
right now im doing low carb with one hi carb meal/week - im not on cycle ...im dropping bodyfat and conditioning myself coming off 7 moth layoff due to serious car accident. Marcos are zone like: 40/30/30....with a carb load meal thrown in once a week. Very soon ill be where i want to be and start the carb cycling process to prep for cycle....
The zone type macros im doing now is a pretty new thing for me - wanted to try it ...my norms are the three others i stated ...circumstances have been far from normal as i said re: accident so im experimenting a bit with modified (carb load meal) zone type diet (so far its serving its purpose)Last edited by jimmyinkedup; 02-02-2009 at 03:46 PM.

Carb cycling primarily this: http://forums.steroid.com/showthread.php?t=231735
Through pct i usually follow my on cycle diet just adjusting calories down slightly post bulk. When im 2 months from next aas cycle - carb cycling starts. Post cut i jump on 40/40/20 through pct and run it till around 2 months from next cycle start (adjusting calories accordingly) then jump on the carb cycling...
Modified zone purpose - drop bodyfat while improving conditioning after such long layoff.... more time needed re: conditioning so didnt feel the need to go full out keto ...Im progressing on schedule re bodyfat drop and conditioning increase..... so far so good.... good opportunity to check out this type diet longer term....Last edited by jimmyinkedup; 02-02-2009 at 09:01 PM.

oh i understand the prime; didn't know that was what you were going for since you were injured; suppose you're heading to that point though. and again, i asked how often you bulk and what you usually gain when you cycle?
