breakfast "shake"
anything wrong with this shake? sounds pretty good because I'm tired of eating oatmeal every morning with nothing in it.
fruit like a banana or apple, whey protein, and the 1/2 cup of oats uncooked and water. after blending it you could probably swallow it down real quick and not have to endure that blan taste. you're getting your carbs from the oatmeal and fruit, and protein from the whey.

What about adding some sugar free jam or splenda to the oats?

Mornings I don't have time to cook/heat food, I do something similar.
8oz milk, 4 egg whites, 1 scoop whey, 1 cup oatmeal, 1 tspn peanut butter - all blended.

use frozen berries such as mixed berries, blueberries etc from the supermarket. When they melt the juice comers out and its really nice. I also use yoghurt and oatmeal to make smoothies

is there any downside to eating the oats uncooked? it seems too easy to be just as good for you.

I always eat my oats raw.
I use 6 egg whites, cup of raw oats, and a scoop of whey...with a fruit chaser. The faster I get it down....the better. Usually have 3 or 4 of those a day. quick and easy
I've never noticed a difference between raw oats and cooked oats...except for the time I save by just swallowing them!

Ok I tried making a shake this morning and it was good and easy. My only two questions are: 1. it was very foamy. I used milk and egg beaters so do you think if I used water and real egg whites this would cut the foam down? 2. What is the nutrients of a banana? Thanks.

This is the exact shake I do for breakfast and PWO.
1/2 cup water 1/2 liquid egg whites
1 cup oats
1 serving whey isolate
1 banana
ice cubes
yields about 43g protein, 85g carbs, 5g fat so roughly 550 calories. It's good

Pasteurization is a way of killing off the harmful bacteria found on many animal products (eggs, dairy, etc.)... Basically the raw prodcut is heated to a certain temperature at which the bacteria can't survive for a duration of time and then refridgerated to keep from becoming contaminated...

Only one out of something like 30,000 eggs that you buy in any store has salmonila, so you're pretty safe either way. I use regular eggs for breakfast. Not the carton of whites. Not saying that there's anything wrong with them though. I really just eat regular eggs because I scramble them rather than put them in a shake.

When I feel real hungry in the morning, I'll cook my cup of oats, throw some splenda and cinnamon in them, and scramble a cup of whites with 2 whole eggs and scarf it. If i'm pinched for time, or just not wanting to eat after cardio(usually happens doing HIIT) I'll Toss all of that in the blender, only I drop the whole eggs, and add a scoop of whey(some times a banana).
