advice for wife
got my wifes maintenance cals at 1526---thats with no multiplier--seeing as she is only going to be doing cardio most of the time should i even use a multiplier--or just on resistance days---was going to put her at 1300 cals a day and on resistance days 1600----what do u think---by the way she be eating 5 meals on cardio days and add a pwo meal on resistance days for a total of 6 meals----got all the foods nailed down

156lbs 5'8 bf on electronic calipers is 24---goal is to get down to around 140lbs---got 3 days left on p90x program and she has gained 4 lbs---diet was clean all the way through---cant figure it out

she may have been eating around 17-1800 clean cals throughout those 90 days in 4 mostly 5 meals

Well she may have gained some muscle along the way. I would ditch the electronic device for fat percentage especially if you are building a diet around her LBM figures.

i know she gained some muscle---cause she lost 3% bf according to calipers--those calipers are right on for me and i set up my diet with them and lost 11% bf in 2 1/2 months-----i know there is better ways of doing it but thats all we got---dont workout at gym---electronic scale says 28%( i know these are very inaccurate--usually high) what do u think about the 1300 cal on cardio days and 1600 on weight days? thanks fireguy

even if we figure high at 30 % thats less than 100 cal---would put her at 1436 bmr instead of 1526

I would say run it and chart your progress. I think too many people get locked into a certain calorie number instead of results. If you are wanting to get leaner and it's not working in most instances you are eating too many calories or not doing enough cardio and need to adjust. Vice versa if you are looking to gain. All these formula's for determining caloric needs are estimates at best, use them as a starting point and adjust often.

What works for one person doesnt always work with another. My wife and I both compete and I do both of our diets and they are set up totally different. My body responds well to higher carbs and lower fats while she is the exact opposite.

gotcha---will try this for 2-3 weeks and go from there---she doesnt really care about muscle---so should she still need 40% of her cals from protein?
